My experience with my new Varney J/B

I've had my new Varney J/B for approx. 1 week. I also own the Fury J/B that was used in the Platinum Billiards break speed test. The Varney is hands down, far and away superior to the Fury in every way imaginable. The Fury can shatter racks, no problem...but lacks in control. The Varney can do the same, put the C/B 3' off in the air, back the C/B up and park it in the center with less effort. I love the grooves that Kevin cut into the tip to give it gripping power, and aleviate miscueing, you can almost shoot this phenolic tip without chalk. I've also had the same opinions from two of the top players from my town, who have tried this cue, who have owned Stinger's, Scorpion's and Predator BK1 & 2's. I am not talking hype here, just the straight facts. It jumps better than my Predator Air, and with less effort, and more control. This is a superior product from somebody who knows what he is doing. Kudos Kevin....I look forward to trying one of your playing cues, someday. This J/B is gonna have a loving home in my case. Thanks to all the AZ'er's for a great recommendation, which led to a happy satisfying purchase, and an opportunity to meet and chat with an extremely fine cuemaker:D

i guess its all case by case.
i had a pred bk, a ORIGINAL MG sledgehammer and a fury j/b and the fury what the best by far.

the MG i flew the ball ALOT. pred was ok but i got more speed and accuracy with my fury.

i love KV and MG so i would never say a bad word but ive tried or owned just about every j/b or plain breaker under the sun and that fury outplays all.

and its cheaper about 129$

Thanks for the feedback. I can attest that it's difficult to find the right cue that can both jump easily and break with control - it seems the Varney jump break is the right tool for both jobs.

Welcome to the Varney club! :D Now you know what the rest of us have been raving about for so long. There is no equal. :D

i do the same . i cut 3 round grooves in the tip to hold chalk better

i assume thats what hes talking about

Jumps better then the predator air? wow... any others think this? Great job Kevin!!!!!

Well, the Fury jumped very well, and the Varney jumps better than the Fury. Everyone who'es tried my Pred Air, says it sucks compared to what's out there. I use a dart stroke and the Varney does better than all of them.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. This is the best part of being a cuemaker....happy customers. Glad you are pleased Marc, welcome to the Varney family.:)

indeed they are amazing cues. i had one but traded it away since i have on in the works. for the meantime i am without a varney jump break which sucks lol. waiting patiently is overrated.

Everyone is just stating the truth thats all.:D

My fury j/b was fine with a perfect center ball hit. But try to put a little draw on the cb during break and a miscue was likely. Of course with speed comes error...so ANY slight error in hitting the cb on break caused a miscue.

I sent my Fury j/b shaft to Kevin and he installed the canvas resin tip and ferrel he uses on his j/b cues. The fury j/b with the new ferrel and tip turned out to be a really nice combination for me. I get a good break and rarely if ever miscue. If I hit the cb correcly I will stop mid table with a nice ball spread.

Another guy in my league sent his break shaft off for a similar mod. He dont like it because he claims he cant get proper english when doing a second ball 8 ball break. Of course he is the kinda of guy that is always blaming the arrow rather than the indian!

If you are interested in a modification Id suggest you contact Keven directly.

Cheers

Can someone post a picture of this cue? I've googled for a website and couldn't find anything.
