My First SBE

Im trying to get past it but obviously everyone else cant. The problem has been addressed now for the last six pages etc. with everyone's opinions (ok cool open forum I get that) but wasnt expecting this much response.

And as for my apology yes it is quite genuine. I do feel badly about the situation and I guess from here on out I am going to keep my mouth shut now. I have said my peace realized my mistake and will not do it next year I hope everyone can live with that now and leave it to rest.

Hey Charlie:

First off, *I* certainly am not asking you for an apology. You know me enough to know that I'm an in-your-face guy, and I won't back down when I'm trying to get someone to understand a very important point.

Rather, I've been complimentary of your efforts. This event wouldn't have seen the light of day without you. The 14.1 crowd can all thank you for that.

What I did do, though, was to help answer a few questions from an insider's point of view (as you know, I played in both events in question in this thread -- both the 14.1 Challenge as well as the Open 10-ball event). This is so it's understood how a certain pro exploited the good nature of the folks running and playing in the event, to get what he wanted, at the expense of others (including the thread originator). And it can not only easily be done, but easily repeated next year, if we as a group don't look out for it.

Stop apologizing. You're apparently responding to any remaining tidy-up posts as some kind of resurgence of the original thread, or as an aftershock attack, or something along those lines. It isn't -- you're taking it that way.

It's all good.

Hey Guys,

First and foremost i would like to thank everyone here for there dedicatin and on going support (especially Charlie aka forumghost516) without all of this support and Hard work this event would not have been possible.

I do know that there were some issues regarding our event that were out of our control, regarding slow play, players getting bumped, cleanliness of the expo center, etc etc.

As was stated in the original posts, we were going to make allowences for players that had tournament schedules to abide by and what not, so we did what we could do to accomodate them as well. i am sorry if that meant that others had to wait that much longer for there attempts.

Regarding slow play: that is a hard bridge to cross, the player that is at the table playing at his speed is also paying for his attempt as well. all we can do is suggest in a nice manner is that others are waiting as well. next year we are hoping and planning on having a larger area with more tables, so hopefully this will allow everyone a chance to participate.

Like i said before this event was paid for by everyones donations, and i cant thank you all enough. but next year we are hoping to get some huge sponsorship involved in hopes that we dont have to look for the donations.

But it is this negativity that is going to hurt us all in the long run, if any of these big names see that there is some hostility or negativity about the event it is going to only hurt us all in the long run.

This event was thought of in hopes to bring 14.1 back to the forefront as being a noble mans game, as well as to bring pool as a whole back into a new light. so please consider this and lets all move forward in a more positive way.

Thank You !
Steve

Steve,

I'm trying very hard to let this part of the the thread die, it was little more than an aside in Lou's original post, but first Charlie and now you raised issues I sincerely would like answered. Match schedules I think we all understand. However I'd very much like to know what "and what not" covers. Anything specifically "and what not" doesn't cover or is it another way to say that we will cater to the privileged few without using the words found offensive earlier? Seems like you just stirred the same poop that was settling down.

Once again guys I apologize for this and will continue to do so while this thread keeps on getting hits. I dont know what else to do at this point but keep on apologizing.

Charlie

Charlie, man, you don't need to keep apologizing. It's all cool.

If there's one thing I'd hope you'd consider for future events is that there be a more formalized procedure for signing up. And I personally think that unless a pro, or for that matter any player, is *called away* for a match that is about to happen, everyone fairly gets their turn when their name comes to the top of the list. No exceptions, even for Willie Mosconi hisself.

Ok, if Willie can make it
maybe

Well see, you guyz want it to die -- but then you go and say something that, at to least me (and apparently a few other stalwarts), almost requires comment. You say, "...if any of these big names see that there is some hostility or negativity about the event it is going to only hurt us all in the long run."

What is that?! "Big names?!"

Is it that you feel you need to walk on potato chips around Charlie Williams, who, it now seems, manipulated the system? Is calling him on it really hostility? He gets privileged treatment and goes to the head of the line because of a non-existent "tournament scheduling conflict," after at least one player had been politely waiting his turn for two hours? And pointing that out is negativity?

I don't get any of that. It's a sport and I think, though it doesn't happen all the time, the goal should be integrity and fair play for all participants.

But that's just me.

This statement is ill-founded.

Are you talking about Big Name players, or are you talking about big name sponsors.

Either way, if you are talking about big name sponsors, if they read this thread, and see how issues are being addressed in an effort to make future events BETTER, then it isn't going to hurt anything.

And if you are talking about Big Name players who are going to get their undies in a wad who cry and want you to hand them some tissues when you tell them to go to the back of the line cause you aren't playing favorites, THAT TOO will also do nothing but make the events BETTER in the future.

All criticism that end up changing future events for the better, is good criticism.
