My home room saga

OK, still lots of bare walls, some shoe moldings to install and waiting on a media room rug and a few other things but it's time to get to it. I've got a lot of time in this over the past 15 months but also contracted out a significant percentage of the work. I have access to the lower level (I can't bring myself to call it the basement any longer, I made every attempt to finish to the same level as the upstairs) by stairs from the garage or this main stairs from the house. At the bottom of the stairs is the walk-out door facing the back of the house, to the left is the bedroom and a hall. The bedroom is wood floor like you'll see elsewhere but currently used as my work area as I wrap things up...so no shots in there or the walk-in closet. To the right of the stairs is the media room with windows facing the back yard as well.

Beyond the bedroom as you circle left is the bathroom accessible from the walk-in closet or billiard room. Shower tile design mimics a stained glass window in the upstairs entry door.

Somewhat open to the media room is the bar/kitchen area. (Yes, saving the pool area for last). The pre-WWII Lionel train above the cabinets has been in my family around 75-80 years.

Logical, that's the nuts, man!... a billiard room, a cigar lounge AND a media/theater room! Ultimate man cave... Oh to have that basement space (in So. Cali, there's no basements!)

You've got a very nice Deco club thing going... man, if you could swing a 9 foot
Centennial table, you could run a one pocket tournament in there!

Well done, sir!

And then the real reason for all the work...remember this table is right where the original was...quite a difference.

Great looking room, very jealous.

Edited for optical illusion on the last pic. It looked like your cushions were missing at first.

My game is weak, so those buckets are pushing 5 inches. I did the table assembly, pretty significant slate repair, light rail refurb and re-cloth myself....my second assembly and my first cloth job.

Well done, sir!

Cigar room is still just on paper but should be a reality this fall. I needed the space to store and work on stuff.

Thanks, it's been coming together in my head for the last 5 years or so and took close to 2 years including clearing out the space. I finally feel like it was worth the effort.

Does the train actually run or just used as decor ? Great room?
It is still in 100% working order and I have track to run it occasionally but the over cabinet area is a dead end and display only. It would have been cool to set it up in a way it could run but the project was complicated enough as is plus I'd rather not put a lot of miles on it for future generations. By the time I pass it to my son it will be around 100 years old.

Best I've seen on this site, hands down.
Great job!

Thanks for all the kind comments. Rainy Saturday here so maybe I'll get to the last of that shoe moulding.
