My Last Thread On Aiming

I see a lot of 20, 30, 40, and more ball runners that are always on the AIM or NEW AIM SYSTEM threads. Don't you think that if you can run that many balls that you know how to aim already? I started and read 3 or 4 AIM threads for the first time in years and I became an immediate "D" player again. My non-pool playing wife heard me cursing and mumbling to myself about "I can't make a ball after reading those AIM threads"

She said, "Why would you need to read a how to aim thread? I've watched you run racks of balls over the years without missing, so I would think you have that part of the game covered."

After ten minutes on the table I was running balls just like before reading those AIMING threads. Just saying. Johnnyt

johnny, I start my practice sessions daily by making myself run 50. I'd rather play 1 pocket or 10bll. Sometimes it never happens, sometimes on the first shot, BUT, I will still read all kinds of threads on any subject trying new things to improve. BTW....I don't really use systems....cept for kicking.

Johnny, I know what you mean. In my constant effort to improve I will occasionally check in on the aiming threads. But inevitably I have to pull out my calculator to follow along. At that point I click to the 14.1 or For Sale forums.

I still use the same system I've always used: STC/SS*. If there was anything significantly better than A) wouldn't ALL the pros be using it and, B) wouldn't that system(s) be such common knowledge by now that no one would need to pay for the information?

Johnny-

I hear ya. Everyone KNOWS how to aim--- these systems either remove or greatly reduce the need to "perceive." When you remove the need perceive a shot and can do the exact same process for every shot--- your preshot routine becomes extremely defined. It's that consistency that makes you better. If you feel as though you should make every shot on the table if your preshot routine dictates it, you will. That's why this stuff is so powerful. It's not like guys like me can't aim without the system... I just make the TOUGH ones when they count with the system and don't miss the easy ones because I wasn't paying attention (because the system automatically puts me into position...."preshot routine."

These systems ARE your preshot routine. The preshot routine IS your game.

As a someone who loves pool, you should learn every aiming system there is and build on it to create a juggernaut preshot routine. THAT's the value :)
