a bit of relaxing after a hard day in the shop
me and BIG BOY
dennis' 24 pound monster battlecat
he's my buddy

as always, anytime i do something, it turns into some sort of adventure
a big black cloud follows me everywhere i go
first, dennis' computer went down (my fault) according to dennis
the next day my cell phone bit the dust (my fault too)
had to drive into ann arbor to get a new phone
they could not transfer all my saved numbers

then the worst tragedy of the whole trip
i got blamed for not being able to find a box of 100 razor knife blades!!!!!
haha

then my wife came up to meet me for the weekend in tecumseh, MI
of course, the big black cloud showed up again
not enuff hot water to fill the jacuzzi
after raising hell with the owner about it and him telling me he just paid $5300 to have a new water heater put in, i said well, something isn't right, so i had him take me down to the mechanical room
won't try to explain plumbing to you guys, but the recirculating line was not hooked up correctly
anyways, they moved us to a much bigger room and knocked off $100 for our inconvenience and for the plumbing advice

now to the real purpose of this trip
dennis and i met because of my passion for butterfly cues
this whole trip was intended to teach me how to do it
i had the principal in my head, but actually seeing & doing it hands on is priceless
he has a rule, NO ONE uses his table saw
he said if anyone is going to lose a finger it will be him
dennis did all the cutting, the brain work for the most part
we made 14 full length butterfly cues
various designs from the most basic to the more complex

here's 10 of the 14 i brought home to finish
dennis kept 4 that he wanted to mess with

this is a butterfly cue that i made here at my shop before this trip
my 4th attempt on my own
#1 & #2 are junk,
#3 turned out as well as this one did
dennis wants me to go ahead and finish it up as a masse cue that is supposed to be sent to mike massey
that has me really excited!!!!!

so, it was great trip, despite the minor disasters
and the $3.60 a gallon gas
and the $57 a carton smokes
dennis loaded me up with a bunch of wood to mess with
thanks buddy!!!!!

i had to laugh when i saw on dennis' calendars in the house and shop
he had "BURNT PIZZA" written in magic marker
guess that's how i'll always be known as
he even talked to a guy on the phone one day and said "i have burnt pizza with me right now, wanna talk to him?"
burn one damn pizza and look how it sticks!!!!!!
two pizzas actually

i don't mind a bit how he remembers me,
just as long as he always remembers me
and i bet he always will

dennis, thanks a million, had a fantastic time as always
and looking forward to the next time
take care of yourself & big boy & al & snuffy
