My Match with Dennis.

dorabelle...I'd say, with Justin's comments (not to mention him taking both players out of the stream and reprimanding them) pointedly makes the opposite from your standpoint. How do YOU know they made money? You have no idea what it costs to put on a TAR event. The players put up nothing, and behaved like children on a worldwide stream. When you put up prize money, and stream an event between two pros, you can allow any behavior you wish. Until then...well, you know what your mama taught ya.

Can you be more specific about what my mama taught me?

Yeah Yeah I get it, the world owes you something. Dennis and Mike owe you something besides 3 days of sick pool. Your entitled to everything. Your so owed.
Half of the people who are oh so distraught about seeing emotions on the pool table prolly didnt even watch the match.

Jcin was just on tilt recently when he tried to give Danny Harriman free money to play and Danny started acting like a child. He swore the offer was off the table even if Danny decided to play.

Now Jcin actually gives players free money and this is what he gets. I highly doubt that these guys are going to get the same opportunity for quite some time from TAR.

I have a hunch that the players that put on a good show and treat Jcin and the TAR events with respect and show nothing but enthusiasm and gratitude like a SVB for example will get invited back to these awesome events.

Actually Scott, Justin said in a previous post the new format was a success!

I am assuming that is what Dora is eluding to...

AND, outside of the threats of violence and accusations of drug use, I enjoyed the match profusely! I didn't even mind Dennis' comment about MD should never beat him. We revel and laugh about some of the statements Minnesota Fats made to and about players as well as his gift of gab...and he is more widely known to the general public than any other living player besides Jeanette.

Maybe pool's problem is we are not trying to be original. Maybe we feel like we should model our sport after another only because of it's success we would like to have as our own. What I love about pool are the characters in the game and the personality they bring to it. To each his own but I think a player should be themselves no matter what. Ralf can be Ralf and Earl can be Earl. THAT is the beauty of the game!!

I am not attacking you by any means. I am just using this opportunity to state my opinion after reading hundreds of other posts on this matter. Players should never disrespect one another without consequences. However, DCC was so successful at the EX West because of one thing IMO...the action room was large enough to hold the egos yet small enough to pull everyone together so action would stir and personalities would erupt...and putting 2 players in a room and letting them play for days is what makes TAR successful thus far as well...I love to watch Ralf play as much as anyone else...but have him on that table in the same format for 3 days and I would be falling asleep from lack of entertainment...:boring2:

Pool can be very entertaining...but not in an ESPN style format! TAR has the right equation but players need to be themselves to add enough entertainment to appeal to the public...and I'm sure my opinion doesnt work for everyone...but that's ok too...because if we all liked the same thing....well....you know!

Take care buddy!!

Because you know everything, can you explain to me why it was decided a selling feature on TAR 25 to put microphones on each player?
Everyone got what they wanted and now they want to cry about it.

Ya ever watch golf and listen to the guys like Lee Trevino talk about his game??

Perhaps that is what he was hoping for??

Unfortunately Justin ended up with two guys with shit loads of talent and no class.

No way, because we all know how these two felt about each other going into this. We all wanted to hear the drama. Im guessing im going to be the only one honest about this. Its cool.

Monkeys, get in the cage. We know you two want to kill each other. We are going to put mics on you and watch you battle it out for 3 days and then ***** and moan when its all over about how you misbehaved and how we paid 12 bucks a day to see it. Monkeys, you owe us.

Sorry, I'm possibly the only one on azb that doesn't watch these matches (internet too slow) or know or give a shit who the players are. I'm just reacting to the furor and hope you are wrong about Justin . . .

If not, that sux for the long term . . .

Perhaps I'm so naive that I give too much credit?

Mike, I'm actually impressed with your statement! But I have to admit, I have no respect for you, your a loser! It's really too bad because you are an unbelievable pool player! The only thing that's holding you back is your mouth! If there was a way for you to never have the ability to speak, you would be dangerous! But god has given you the ability to speak! God has given you a talent! God is above us all! Remember this mike, always choose the words that come out wisely! The moment you believe your above other people, is the moment you get lower and lower in the eyes of those around you and god above! Yes mike, we have our differences! Your statements to me make me feel that you are nothing more than a stupid kid who has to lie to make himself feel good about himself! It's too bad, it seems to me that you will end up being what is called a wasted talent! One more thing mike, and know this now, you know I'm Greek, I'm a Spartan, don't ever say you are above me!!! We are all equal!!!

Greek? A Spartan? Can't tell from here but you write like you're al Qaida!

You might want to throw in some political banter while you are at it.

Wrong about Justin? Im not sure what your talking about. I love TAR meaning I love Justin. I buy everything they put out. I feel bad that he feels he needs to apologize for the service he provides to us very lucky people. I understand his anxiety over this but I think its misplaced. My comments are towards everyone in general who are trying to tell Mike and Hatch how they think they should behave. Justin is in a different boat because TAR is his baby. Im not in anyway insinuating that it was just Justins idea to mic these guys. It was all the fans that wanted it. I remember it was discussed in the TAR podcasts and everyone wanted it.
Justin look, your business is only going to benefit from the intensity of these controversies. Your not going to lose business. Dude, Im not trying to be disrespectful to you in anyway. Sorry if it came off that way. You know Im one of TARs biggest fans and supporters.

I guess you are saying it is good that Justin, in your opinion, played up this match and wired the players knowing they were immature and would make asses of themselves. and they did.

Sorry, I'm obviously out of my realm here, carry on.

I don't think they made asses out of themselves. I watched every minute of it, you did not. I'm also saying that everyone (not just Justin, he does what his customers want) wanted them mic-ed because they wanted to see some sparks fly.
I'm confused as to why the said flying sparks are now an issue with so many people.

This match is whats wrong with pool

Agreed sir. And i believe Justin and Mark said people who mess up on their streams could also be banned from CSI events. Maybe this is the time to make an example. Someone has to at least try to save some sort of integrity left in pool.
Lets see, in my opinion, from what i've saw and heard and read this last week. in this match you've had cheating, sharking, accusations of drug and achol abuse during the match, serious threats of bodily harm made by a player, public offers by one of the players to bet illegally on the match weeks before it started and a overall feeling of not even knowing if the match was going to be on the up and up from the start. Gee... Not at all what Mark and Justin wanted i think...When the promoters have to threaten the players before the match starts not to do "buisness" it kind of gives you that uneasy feeling in your stomach... However i don't blame Mark or Justin for this one, i do believe they are trying to make it better for everyone, just need to screen their players a little better..
To Dora and any others think this was entertaining and if they think this is the way pool needs to be to be entertaining they are mistaken. Its the kind of behavior you get in a clip joint that most people don't want to frequent.. If these are the types of Men you idolize or poeple you normally hang out with or say GREAT MATCH to, i'm so,so sorry for you. Why is proffesional pool on the decline? These two guys are the a perfect example. All the talent in the world but absolutely no integrity or pride in their sport. Although i give Mike a few points for trying to sorta say he was sorry, lets all not forget, wasn't Mike on the USA Mosconni cup team? Geez...

They didn't say mess up they said people doing business like chopping the money.

Mike neither you nor Hatch have anything to apologize for. This is getting ridiculous and out of hand. People got 3 full days of awesome pool and still find some way to ***** and be a victim of something. THANK YOU AND HATCH FOR 3 DAYS OF GREAT POOL.

^^^^I read the first couple of pages and found this. ^^^^

My sentiments exactly, so stopped reading any further. Thanks to MainPlayer AND The Hatchetman (and everyone else involved with pulling it off). I will SPEND again...

Peace.

I wanted to see a great pool match that's why I bought the PPV.
I for one didn't even know they were going to be mic'd, and wonder
if it exacerbated the situation?

Did I think that there was going to be some back and forth between these two like the first two days, yes, and that was acceptable. Day three crossed the line for me if I wanted to watch the WWF I'd be watching that but I don't!

Let me ask all the people that were ok with what went on, whats the next
step when they are acting like that? I'll tell you what the next step is
somebody says the wrong thing when tempers are already flaring and a
cue is swung and somebodies head is split open and their bleeding all
over the place. Are all of the people that were ok with day three still going
to be ok with it if that happens because when things escalate to the point
that they got to that's the kind of sh*t that happens. I don't know about you
but I've seen more of that than I want to remember.

I paid to watch two great players play great pool, win or lose, shake hands and prepare for the next match, not be preparing to come on here and apologize for what you wish (I imagine) didn't happen in the first place.

I just hope that both of these guys get a chance to watch a replay of the match and take away something good from that. If these two play again in the future sometime I would pay to watch if they come to shoot pool man to man and leave the kid sh*t to the kids. I respect both of these guys as players and think that they have both worked way to hard to get where they've got, to have done what they did. I think both of you guys just shooting pool would be a great match that I'm still waiting to see.

Win or lose respect yourselves nobody can take that away! Sometimes when something like this happens in some weird way it breaks the ice and lets the people become friends, now I don't know if that will happen but I'd like to think that it could. You can't tell me that it wouldn't make for a great end to the story if these two got on Team USA, played doubles together, and won the Mosconi Cup for their country!

The fans want to cheer for the both of you. Give them a reason to!

I support TAR and I hope you do!--------------->My nickle worth
