My Meucci MO11 Pics

It's probably the most desired cue by meucci collectors / circa 1975 first brochure. If it were mine I would keep it.

I just sold a mo-3 on e-bay with a rare snooker shaft along with the original shaft for around 200. I don't see cue's bringing much right now. I have a nice summer series with three shafts on right now that hasn't brought a 225.00 bid. I gave 200, for just one of the shafts.

If you knew old meucci's you would agree with me, MO-3's are a very common cue of which they made many. The MO-8's, 10's and 11's are very desirable and will bring top dollar in good condition. Not a bunch of these made.

I agree, but its rare to have one that comes with a snooker shaft also.

While I agree with you on most cues, it does not apply with this rare Meucci. It's worth what the book say's IMHO. I do love old meucci's but
I am not a collector. I just have a few 1st brochure cues.

Its only worth what you can get for it.

I just sold a Metallic Series Meucci that retailed for 1,200. It was in like new condition without one scuff, with a break and jump cue and new 2x2 case, and only got 300.00 ,on e-bay. I was a little sick over that one. Thought the whole package would bring at least 450.

I think my friend is blowing smoke. And that is okay but you really are going to screw this guy over.

Here is why, one if you think the BLUE BOOK VALUE is accurate for this cue offer him that value. I call BULL$HIT on you if you don't. Blue book is a reference guide, my daughter had one for beany babies and she had some that said hers were worth 20K..

Is it a lesser seen Meucci? yep (A guy in Memphis plays with that exact model for leagues) I have seen many of them over the years, so rare it isn't.

But you tell someone that the cue is worth $2000, then wont buy it for the amount you say it is worth. NOW, when someone offers him what the cue is probably really worth, he thinks he is getting screwed.... He then doesn't sell the cue forever....still waiting on that guy that is going to give him the $2000 that some guy told him it was worth....

Yep, you guys are really helping.

My recommendation? Put it on ebay, start it at $500 with no reserve. It will sell for what it is REALLY worth.

Ken,
Im not screwing anyone over, he asked for opinions cause he may sell it. I quoted the blue book just so he had a good idea what it was worth and nobody stole it from him. I believe it will bring 1200 - 1400 on ebay but have no desire to own this cue. I shoot with Lambros cues and am not looking to change. When I say rare I think there may have been 100 - 200 made at the most 38 years ago.
Take care,
Ray

Okay.

Where did you get the 100-200 number?

Who said the cue was worth $2000? I haven't read that anywhere in this thread.

I think it's because I posted blue book estimates. I was trying to be helpful to him so nobody low balled him. You don't see these that often.

BB prices

Fwiw, I had a super fancy Corsair cue that wouldn't sell for 1/4 of the BB value last year. Also, with the market the way it is, many of other makers are over- and under-valued. It's good to keep in mind that the BB is only a guide...not the be-all and end-all. It's hard to point to a number in a book these days and say somebody's getting lowballed....you need to know or at least have a good feel for the current market.

Okay.

Where did you get the 100-200 number?

Ken

Just my opinion, I think that cue was only offered for a short time.

goggle / discountcues meucci , go to meucci archives and open the top left corner. You will see it was discontinued during the first brochure.

I'll chime in with my .02 here. I think the 100-200 number might be close. Being in Memphis your only a few hours from Meucci's shop. It might explain why you see one occasionally. In my opinion as far as Meucci's go this is a rare one. I was pretty good friends with Mike Erwin before he passed and remember Mike telling me stories about this particular model. It was only made for a short time. I also remember discussing this model with Mike and the possibility of refinishing it. If I recall correctly refinishing this model is damn near impossible because those gold ladies are actually a very thin overlay. (Not a sticker but similar) He also told me he didn't have any replacements and neither did Meucci themselves.

Value can be in the eyes of the owner. I've got about a 700 cue I wouldn't sell for 2k. In my honest opinion I think this cue would bring somewhere around 1000.00 on flea bay. It is one of the nicer ones I've seen. As I said earlier in the thread the last one I saw was in pretty bad shape and brought right around 800.00 Whatever the OP reads here is meant to be helpful and that's all I'm trying to do. The 400.00 offer was silly and we all know that. This cue was made during Meucci's golden era. It's not a mass produced cue like the Meucci cues of today.

Carry on.......

OK, guys....does anybody know where Bob Meucci got the imagery for the butt sleeve of this cue?

The brochure calls it "14k Gold Inlay". I believe that it is actually a transfer that was used on fairly common Greek vases that were made of ceramic and usually cobalt blue, black, or white enamel with gold trim work. I think a lot of these were sold in the 60s and 70s as souvenir items. All different styles of vessels/vases, cups, ashtrays, etc. I think some of the trim on these may be 24k gold leaf (at least they are marked as such underneath the base).

I actually picked one up this morning at our local flea market. When I saw it, I did a complete double take and remembered this cue. Checked AZ and yep, sure enough....lol. The vase measures roughly 6" tall and has the identical image wrapping around it that is in this butt sleeve.

Thought it was so cool, I just had to buy the vase. :)

That Bob was pretty slick and innovative.

Virtually the same vase that is on ebay right now. Link

Seems $400 is the high bid right now. I don't see any other offers.:rotflmao1:

Nice work, Bob is a pretty slick guy. Thanks for posting this.

Since your the one who decided it was up for bid, I can see why there is only one bid. :D

This site is as bad as Ebay. No one bidding and pool cues selling too cheap.

Saw a few good Joss Cues sell a few days ago on Ebay...way too cheap. I bought one but I sure don't need another cue on my wood pile. It was just too good to let go.

The two point Meucci Original that sold yesterday or the day before went cheap too. I think it was around $180 and I believe it still had the weight sticker on it.

Seems lots of people want $300 sneaky petes or wrapless cues with no inlays.:sorry:

Well, we certainly can agree on that.
