My never ending quest for the right shaft

I like a longer and heavier cue. My butt weighs 16 oz.

I have been on this quest for the right “feeling” 30 inch LD shaft. The goal was to find a stiff, solid feeling shaft with some LD properties. The tip diameter I prefer is 13mm to 12.75mm

I feel like I am chasing a ghost. I am about to throw in the towel and go back to the standard shaft.
My disappointment comes from trying 29 inch shafts and then deciding to make a purchase only to find that this extra inch make the shaft feel different. Usually a whippy, dead or weak feel.

My recent experience was the OB Classic. At 29 inches I liked the feel and the control of the CB. So I bought a 30 inch shaft thinking okay this will be it. Then after hitting it the “feel” is just not there. I feel like I am wasting my time.

So my point with this post was to see if anyone else feels this way or has felt this way. Maybe I should just stop wasting my time and got back to my standard shaft. :frown:

I think you're looking for love in all the wrong places. Equipment should enhance your enjoyment and skills of the game, not have them dependent on it.

I am an equipment freak so I do feel your pain... But here is where the issue really starts and ends....

Assuming most makers will taper from the tip towards the back of the cue and likely have their equipment setup for 29" shafts have you considered taking one of the 30s you have and have the taper extended an extra inch....

The extra meat right before the joint may be why the shafts feel so different 2 you when there is only an inch separating them.......

I kind of went through the same thing. A few years ago I finally switched to a 29" shaft on my 30" handle and called it a day.
