My new ebony/birdseye bocote EP cue...love it!

After about a year wait, I received my 4-point ebony into birdseye bocote Ed Prewitt cue. Ed hit my weight/balance on the button. This cue felt real right the moment I started playing with it. The veneer combo was a bit risky, but it looks good to me. The list is short of cuemakers that can deliver the precise quality of build that Ed Prewitt can. Enjoy. Martin

Good question. I don't think I get it either.

Pick a wood with a certain color. Pick some other colors to compliment that wood.

Seems kinda risk-free to me.

I Agree That It Was A Bit Risky..... If Someone Described This Cue To Me, I Wouldn't Like It. Maple Blue Red Black Doesn't Sound Appealing To Me Going Into Bacote, But Looking At It, It Worked Well. That Was The Risk I Think He Was Referring To, The Risk That The Colors Wouldn't Look Right Against The Bacote.

Thanks Marcus, That's what I meant guys...I was going to go with black, peacock, light blue, and white (looks great in bocote, IMO) but the cue was already started with the black, red, blue, white. I think orange would harmonize a bit better than the red, but I am very pleased with this EP cue and plan to keep it. If I didn't like how it played...it would be up for sale!

Great looking cue. Bocote can be tough to match colors with, but this one turned out great.

Have you played with it yet? It came out really nice Martin, can't wait to see it in person

Thanks for the compliments on the cue guys--I'll pass it along to Prewitt. I played with the cue the first night I got it...and liked it immediately. Kind of like a kid with a new toy. I haven't had a new cue for better than a year and a half. It weighs 18.96/19.0oz and balances close to 19". My specs these days. Eventually I might end up with a cue collection! :D

Not to get away from the discussion regarding the "risk" factor here, but the inlay work in the butt sleeve of this cue is really intricate. Very nice cue

As usual everything is perfectly executed. This isn't a gripe with this particular cue per se, but why the black outer veneer into such a grainy wood? I've seen a few Coco-nosed Whites with black outer veneers, and you can barely see the outline of each point. The effect is to shrink those deep V-points visually, make them appear further apart than they actually are...and I am just not a fan of that aspect of this cue.

But overall, you can spot this classy piece from across the room as a Prewitt. And these days that's saying something.

I have become a huge fan of Prewitt's designs and this cue is very nicely done. Martin - nice risk taken.
