I live within walking distance of a carbide sharpening shop and have a good relationship with the guys that work there. Anyway I know the Tina blades are popular for trimming tips flush and I was asking them about options.
Paul says "wait a minute" and walks into other shop in back(front is all CNC, including a new 5 axis to make custom cutters) and hands me a cutoff from a planer.
Voila, tip trimming made, it seems, foolproof(which is really good for me)!!
This knife is carbide edged, but he said HSS can be made sharper. All I know is it works very well.
If you'd like one to try, let me know. I'll give one or two out at my discretion, as I'd like to get some people buying these from them. They are super cool and I'd like to get them even more business(they are already busy. Their sharpeners seem to be going all the time).
They also made a custom ground blade for my cnc shaft machine that works great!
I don't think I can mention the business name here, so PM me for details.
