My New Sideways JossWest and Big Whitey!

You might well be right, Stu. But, as things seem to go, it wouldn't be terribly long before someone started using mini-catapults instead of jump cues... :rotflmao1:

Seriously, though, thanks Stu. I actually can't wait to hit some balls with Big Whitey. It's been a loonnnnnggggggggg time. :)

I haven't played on bar tables for many years, but the last time I recall playing with big whitey was in about 1993 at a friend's house in New Jersey.

For me ( since Big Whitey, at any rate ), it's been at least since 82, maybe even earlier. I've played more than a couple barboxes in the years since but all were magnetic CBs. So, long, long time since B.W. :)

Great looking cue Mike! Hope you're doing ok!

Thanks, PO! I wish I had more energy, I REALLY wanna hit balls with it or at least an hour or two.

I'm doing ok, thank you, sir. A bumpy flight but I knew that going in. I've lost a ton of weight ( not good ) as I can't swallow solid food ( and barely water ), so I had to have a feeding tube put in 3 days ago. So now, I'm getting lots of carbs, calories and nutrients via the feeding formula, so... I definitely feel better now than I did 4 days ago. But it's a process ( as Tiger Woods says! ) so it'll take a bit. But I'll be fine. "Right as the mail".

Hey, just don't get "tube" steak confused with "tubesnake". ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAxccK-KgBI

Michael;

Very nice new cue; It was just a few months back that I got my first Josswest and it's not only a stunner, but a super-solid ball striker as well.

Enjoy yours as you continue to move through all the crappy treatments hopefully pushing all of it into the rear view mirror.

Your Josswest = Spoon full of sugar...

best,
brian kc

Nice purchase Michael! I have had my JW for well over 30 years, and while
I borrowed it for a ‘test drive’ before my purchase it almost paid for itself
Since then it’s been like fast Eddie said ‘it’s like it’s alive...it’s a part of my arm’
(Quote?). Funny how true that can be. I was lucky enough to have sent mine to
Bill for a rewrap, refinish, and a couple new shafts before he quit working ... so
It started it’s life all over again from there.

Keep on keepin’ on there pool brother... we are all pulling for you.

Td

P.s. what is that case in your screen pic? That i interesting.

Brian - Sugar to the nth degree! I LOVE this cue!. The one I got from Dave Brainard is the prettiest cue I've ever owned, bar none but this JW is on the same shelf. It is STUNNING. And the shafts are UNREAL tight. Both of them. This thing is literally like BRAND NEW.

The big C just got some more weight and it STILL can't get there. I got the nuts in this race!

Yeah Dave, your attitude's incredible. And it shows in your work. I wish I had 5 or 6 of that Rambow replica. If you come across another Titlist with the veneers, LET ME KNOW!

:grin-square:

Thanks, Dave.

Thanks TD. Moocho appreciated on all counts. I just checked with Mr. Stroud and he said he can't tell exactly when he made it from the photo I have here but he thinks from the joint rings and the points it was circa 73 - 74. So I couldn't possibly be happier.

I like your quick story about paying for itself. @ 76, I bought a Plain Jane from Rocky Tillis at a tournament in Tampa for 190.00. Before I got home early the next morning I was up @ 400! Only time that ever happened to me with a new cue.

The case is one I just ordered for the JW. Once I got the cue, I realized ( yeah, bad planning. But I've been distracted of late ) I didn't have a case for it. And I now have 3 Blue Circles, 1 Red Circle, 3 Aramith Black and 1 Aramith Big Whitey CBs, so I figured, sure... why not? So I ordered that case. It's an Aramith. And it looks very well made ( Heavy aluminum over wood with velvet guts ). Plus 2 gear compartments and the ball space. Sooooooo... should be here in 2 days! I haven't had a fold-open case since the very first cue I bought when I was 13. It'll be an adventure!

Yo, Michael.. that's a great Joss, nice points on that one!
Early Joss cues are the nuts.. I bet when you're back at the
table that's the first cue out..

Runner - Yessssssssssssss! The DEAD nuts! I LOVE old cues. The weird thing about this one is, though, it's like BRAND NEW. I ain't kiddin'. I practically need vice grips to get the shafts on. It's unbelievable, they're so tight. And, in the entire cue, there is one TINY knick, in the sleeve. That's it. Other than that? P R I M O condition. I hit the jackpot on this thing, sho nuff.

:yeah:

I’ve had a lot of Josses, and a couple of them were Strouds....
...but never one with a reclining W.....
...although I’ve had my game go sideways a few times....

I don't want anyone to tell Michael the shafts are actually cross threaded.

He's vulnerable right now so let's keep this to ourselves...okay??? :D

Me too!!! So what I'm hoping is, the Sideways W on the JW and my game going sideways will act the same as two positive ends of a magnet that repel each other! So it'll SPROING me right back in line!!!

I knew you'd get it, PT!
