My New Tascarella

Marcus:

You need to get a table for your house, so you can put that cue to work!

It is like having a Ferrari on blocks in the garage!

"That Guy" would be me.

That's what forums are for, right? To discuss everything about pool, which includes talking about cue values and prices paid.

I am happy Marcus loves this cue so much. It is a work of art to be sure. I am quite uneducated regarding Tascarella cues and saw a sale on Ebay that seemed out of line... Just wanted clarification and found it in fanatical Tascarella fans.

I WOULD HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM WITH ASKING A QUESTION.......BUT YOU MADE STATEMENTS.....YOU EVEN WENT TO THE EXTENT TO SAY I TOOK A CORNCOB IN A VERY UNCOMFORTABLE SPOT. I DIDN'T APPRECIATE THAT. IT WAS EVEN WORSE BECAUSE YOU MADE THOSE COMMENTS, AND THAN ADMITTED TO NEVER OWNING A TASCARELLA. YOU ALSO SAID YOU WERE A HACK COLLECTOR AT BEST. IT DIDN'T MAKE ME HAPPY TO SEE MY PURCHASE GETTING RIDICLED BY SOMEONE WHO CALLS HIMSELF A HACK.

I'VE NEVER OWNED A FERRARI(AND NEVER WILL) BUT I WOULD NEVER RIDICULE THE OWNER OF ONE BECAUSE I DON'T AGREE WITH THE PRICING.

I GUESS WE'RE JUST DIFFERENT TYPES OF PEOPLE.

I HAD A TABLE AT HOME. I SOLD IT, I LIKE DRINKING WHEN I PLAY, AND I DON'T LIKE TO DRINK AT HOME.

Ok... I have been enlightened and possibly converted by Marcus and I will keep my eyes peeled for a Tascarella (though not one on Marcus' cue's level).

YOU WILL BE VERY HAPPY WITH YOUR CHOICE IF YOU EVER CHOOSE TO GET A TASCARELLA. I'M GLAD THE THREAD HAS SOME PEACE AT THE END OF IT. I WAS WORRIED FOR ABIT THAT IT WAS GOING TO GET OUT OF HAND.

ENJOY YOUR COLLECTING, AND IF YOU FIND A TASCARELLA THAT YOU DON'T WANT LET ME KNOW. I'M ALWAYS LOOKING FOR MORE.

MARCUS

P.S. JUST TO LET EVERYONE KNOW, I HAD THE CORNCOB REMOVED FROM MY BUTT, AND I FEEL MUCH BETTER NOW.

People don't necessarily collect things for an investment, I can't speak for Marcus, but some people buy cues because they just love looking at them, holding them, even playing with them. But it comes to a point where you like the way one plays better then others and changing cues for the sake of playing with different ones hurts your game. I am sure that Marcus treats his cues well enough that if he hits balls with the cue nobody would ever be the wiser. To understand or try to understand a collector is pointless. Why wear a Rolex when a timex tells the time just as good, why by a Lamborghini when a Honda will get you from point A to point B? It's not something that can be explained with logic. You don't get it because you're not a collector, I'd bet that many people who collect cues used to (or still do) collect other things, maybe comics or Baseball cards as kids, or guns or cars as an adult.

Jim <---Done it all

You're right Jim. One of my good friends is really into antiques. Collecting, buying, selling, etc. At one point he travelled around the country full time buying and selling antique clocks. Now it is other stuff. He said, "Collecting is just something that is in your blood. Period. Non-collectors can't comprehend how a collector's mind works because it isn't logic or need based. Although, at times building your collection can very much feel like a NEED." I thought this was pretty insightful.

The Tascarella is a great choice.
Love the hit over any of my other cues and the work is awesome.
BillYards - you will not be disappointed at all.

Corncob - Ouch!

Gorgeous cue.. the design looks somewhat familiar.. lol

Joe (---I know who got the corncob.. he lives in NJ

You guys misunderstand me

Im all for having a collection but I dont understand why you cant enjoy it. Cues, unlike most collectibles can be used and enjoyed. I think with proper care your long term value would be relatively the same.

I DO ENJOY MY COLLECTION. AND I AGREE THEY SHOULD BE ENJOYED.

I DISAGREE WITH THE NEW CUE VERSUS PLAYED CUE VALUE. THERE IS CERTAINLY IN MY OPINION A HUGE DIFFERENCE. JUST MY OPINION THOUGH. I KNOW I'LL PAY A PREMIUM FOR NEW UNPLAYED, BUT I AM MORE HESITANT TO DO THAT WITH A USED CUE.

Marcus, you should do with the cue what you want to do. I cannot understand how some people tell other people what to do with what they buy.

Im sorry Fast and Loose I wasnt trying offend you. Sometimes its just hard for me to understand, Im a little slow. But to me, its like having a hot wife with none of the benefits. Anyways, nice cue.

NO OFFENSE TAKEN, WE WERE JUST SHARING OPINIONS. WE ALL ENJOY OUR COLLECTIONS DIFFERENTLY.
