ok, folks, you know i spend TONS and TONS of time practicing and playing, working on the game, trying to improve. you also probably know i live in a small town, and dont have much of an opportunity to find a game. you also know i have the 1998 BCA 8-Ball Champion that i call "Dave" who comes down a few times a year to play some 9-Ball with me.

well, "Dave" is coming down again tomorrow (wed) night, for our next session. i dont really expect to beat Dave but i do hope to give him a decent match. if i lose 7-0, 7-1, 7-2, 7-1, i will be very disappointed. if i lose 7-5, 7-4, 7-6, 7-5, or something like that, i will be somewhat happy.

in the meantime, i have tonight to get ready for Dave. i am kinda struggling right now, that sux. anybody have any suggestions as to what i should work on tonight? i am thinking some of the handful of basic shots in 9-Ball as well as some speed control drills, and practice some safeties also.

Yeh...your woofing skills and matching up. Tell him that you are going to be his designated breaker for the night and he has to be yours!!!

Actually......I was kind of hoping he would report back and let us all know how many brknrun's this guy has.

Guestimating that they will probably play for about 4 hours....this guy is a past champion.......and also factoring in the hex that surrrounds this particular table....I would put the over/under at about 9 racks.....

Mike...can we get a v-bookie event on this???

why do you give him an alias, but tell people he's the 1998 champion???? doesn't that tell people exactly who he is?

Working on any thing this evening might be useless. Lay back, relax and have a brew. Putting something new in your game now will only hurt you...randyg

"If I could only lose by......."

I'm with randyg. Also you need an attitude adjustment. Anybody can be beat. Nobody wins all the time. He's been beaten before by other guys - why not by you? And how much would you enjoy THAT!

Well he came out of the loser bracket and won our Sunday tourney, so he wasnt playin too bad. Course it was on a bar table.

Dave playing bad is better than most when they play good :)

i'm sunk.

played really bad last night, kept messing up racks, finally managed to run a few. worked on some routine shots, that type of thing. nothing felt good.

i dont have a warm, fuzzy about this titanic struggle tonight.

Don’t forget to allow yourself to feel good when you do well or win.

Losing must sting but winning must also feel good, it takes both

Go in to the game like you are the best in the friggin world!...even if he wins, you are still the best!....you may not know right now how you might win, but just KNOW you WILL win!.....you've made every shot a million times. It makes no difference how you played yesterday, 10 minutes ago, or last time you 2 matched up. Stay possitive, know you will win, you will get all the rolls, and he will miss for some strange reason?....go get em killer......:)

Hey DCP,
How long have you been playing / practicing hard? How many good players have you played? How many tournies? How many league matches?

Just trying get some idea of where you are at in terms of experience.

Even if you're ok on a practice table, there's a learning curve for performing to your abilities when matching up.

There is a local guy here, (cubswin & scruggsinhand know him) that regularly kicks my butt. Normally in a race to nine, I score between four and six. Last Wednesday we played a race to five and I beat him, five to one. It felt real good! He's still, a lot better than me, but I am getting closer.

I hope he drills you. You are the biggest whiner I have ever seen, all you ever do is ***** and whine about bad rolls and blah blah blah. Karma for all the crying you have done over the years on AZB is going to cause you to get smoked. May a 5 foot wide cloud follow you all day long raining on your head while everywhere else is nice and sunny.
