My "pay it forward"

Shawn is one of the good guys. I truly hope he comes back to the game.
About 11 years ago I made the shift to custom cues. One of the first cues (maybe THE first) I bought came from Shawn via eBay. I still have the cue and have no intention of ever selling it, with only one possible exception. It does have his name on it!
Good luck, Shawn.

I've found new things in life worth pursuing. I decided to get healthy over a year ago, dropping 35 lbs. I started doing more physical activities, like running, cycling, working out, and playing a few sports. Being a father of two boys, and having a career, something had to give. I like who I am now, more than I liked who I was when I was playing pool. I may make a comeback to league in the not so near future, but I haven't even chalked a cue in over a year, and I really don't miss it. Some days, yes. Most days, no.

That's good man, as long as you're happy! Pool will always be around if you wanna revisit it.
Good luck with everything.

Ok...spoiler alert - Dan has shown the picture of the case. Just so you know, the cues were his, as he borrowed the case to go to Vegas. So those cues aren't coming with the case. And the Mario keychain was his as well. You can pretty much read the Karen Corr autograph. There's a bunch more on it.

The story about the case - Dan and I went to Seneca Casino in NY a few years back. We entered the Pro Am Scotch event hosted by the WPBA. We ended up partnered up with 2 fellow Canadians, and Monica Webb. We won the event. Anyways, I had my soft case with me, and had it autographed by:

Allison Fisher
Karen Corr
Ewa Laurance
Monica Webb
Robin Dodson
Line Kjorsvik

Keep the stories coming. I've heard a bunch of good ones.

you are KIDDING me?!?!
now THAT, is a TOTALLY cool STORY....

thanks Canadian Easter Bunny!

due to time zone & constraints, today is apparently Sunday. i'd texted my ex, and blew the big surprise, cause my son was home alone w/ his cell phone - but i didn't give it totally away. he only knew that it was HUGE, and from Canada.

after 5 hours of WHAT IS IT?!?!, we gave in. i said, NAME ME 2 FEMALE PROS, and i'll give it to you. JENNIFER BARETTA AND THE BLACK WIDOW.

so i read him the OP. WHAT IS IT, MOM?!?! made him shut his eyes & hold out his arms. and strung it on him. IT'S A CASE! and then he started looking....as i read him the names & KK9 told him the pros' histories. and then i read him its history of Shawn, and Dan, and Monica taking the Cup.

OMG, THAT'S TOTALLY COOL, MOM!!!! then he opened it & explored. KK9 explained what everything was for & that it was a 3x5.

WOW - LET'S GO SHOOT!!!! C'MON, LET'S GO!!!! WHERE'S MY CUE?!?! LET'S GO, LET'S GO! and he hasn't taken it off his shoulder for the past 1.5hrs.

so we are out the door, to Break Time. pics to follow.
thank you, Shawn. we will pay it forward.

PS - the UPS guy was just as happy to deliver this, as i ran after him w/ my robe flying open.

I guess you don't have to sign for a package if you flash some boobies. :grin-square:

Very cool case Shawn. It's hard to come with words to express our appreciation for you generosity. Thanks!!!!!

Pink and kk9, that is way cool to read! I'm glad this case went to such a deserving youngster! Can't wait to see the pics.

Thanks Rackem! Pink took some real good pic's tonight. She'll post them soon (and there will be extras, as Grey packed the case with other precious articles...)The case was the talk of the packed pool hall. 13 year old Grey was walking on a cloud - so proud.

Sh1t eating grin doesn't begin to describe it.

Happy Easter all. And Shawn, I trust you are smiling, and it is so well deserved. Many, many thanks. :D

The pic's will further tell the tale.

Ill bet he shot good too....i always shoot my best when on a cloud like that

i read this thread when it 1st came out . i thought it was pretty cool since i have bought my g/f 's 2 boys cues and cases already i never had any intention of posting in this thread and forgot about it until i saw it and started reading it tonight.

it got me to thinking about this boy i see at the pool hall almost every week.i guess he is about 6 or 7 years old. i dont know him or the 2 older people he always comes in with. i assume they are his grand parents. he always grabs a cue off the wall and shoots with them. as a matter of fact i think they play with cues off the wall also.

i try not to judge people by their appearance but its kinda obvious they don't have much disposable income for cues and such. well lately neither have i lol.

i think i have an extra case laying around the house not in use. " i have several cases being used to store cues i just cant part with lol.

as soon as i come across a cue it and the casei already have is gonna go to that lil boy.

Here's Grey with his Shawn Armstrong special case at Breakers in Greensboro, NC. He's wearing Ken Shuman's Mosconi Cup glove, and the Master's chalk is the last chalk used at The Cup, after Neils sank the winning 9 ball.

I have a couple more pic's coming (sorry for the sideways pic, lol, my computer is having a bad hair day)

Bump, in event the generous Mr Armstrong hadn't seen the pic's.

:)

Well, I don't know about the "generous" part, but I just saw the posts today. I unplugged for awhile. I'm glad Grey is enjoying the case. Worth much more to me than any money that could have come from selling the case.

Now, can Pinklady post the pictures from her chasing the UPS guy? :)
