My personal cue vs. Bar cue

And that's why I do not get the big custom cue market... other than for looks...

And then your beauty may not be my beauty so how can it be an investment or perhaps the question should be why should it be.

What, if anything, am I missing?

Best 2 Ya,
Rick

Missing?

Functional art would be the term.

Investment? Pool cues? Generally not a good idea.

I am a cue aficionado. Nothing more. I like cues. I am passionate about learning about them. It's about enjoyment, pleasure....dopamine. :D

Same reason Cocaine is addictive and why you can't ever stop thinking about that one girl you knew. It wasn't love, it was endogenous "cocaine" addiction. A hormone and neurotransmitter imbalance. :D

So I guess it's a pathology....and AZB is a support network for sufferers.

Yeah,

I said that my beauty may not be his or your beauty.

I can understand getting a custom made cue made for looks reasons but one will never know how it will play until it gets into the hands & on a table.

I guess if one hits with a cue that can be reproduced (is that really possible) then I guess I could understand ordering one but with how one wants it to look as long as the looks modifications do not alter the play of the cue.

Like I said, I should have bought that 'pink' cue when I was a youngster.

I guess that little old man knew more than I did... or he already knew what I realized that night.

Anyway, I like the looks of many of the Balabushka cues, but I do not think it was the looks that made them popular with top players back in the day.

So, idk if this is the right sub-forum, but I found out something very strange today while hitting for a few minutes in between classes at my local pool hall. I was hitting with a super cheap bar cue, cause I didn't have my pool cue with me (players hxt with kamui med tip), and I could draw the ball almost twice as well. I shot a variety of shots, and all worked out about the same: way more draw than with my regular cue. Same weight and everything.

Anyone have any clue why this is? I love the feel of my cue, but I want that "bar cue" draw all the time.

This one's fairly easy to explain, at least in my opinion. ANY decent quality 1 piece bar cue off the wall is going to play better than ANY Players cue, period. (Thats my opinion - shared by most I would think)
Short of buying the bar cue you found - which many have suggested and remains a good idea, many high quality cue makers strive to replicate the feeling you found - and loved - in that bar cue - the feeling of a full spliced 1 piece cue.
Many cuemakers are making cues that do a fantastic job of this...and many for under 400$ (especially in the used market). I'll name a few, but many many folks on here have alot more experience with this than I.

Bob Frey, Keith Josey, Dominiak, Pechaur, there are tons more
