My Purpleheart Titlist Sneaky

Hey guys, here's a Titlist (26 1/2) conversion I just received back from Chuck Starkey.

Here's the story...I previously had a true Scruggs sneaky that hit as solid as anything I've ever had - it was great, but I like veneers. I love the simple look of Titlist cues just the way they are, and I had a spare Scruggs sneaky shaft, so I had a thought (and ironically a Titlist on hand). I'd have the titlist converted, keeping the stock shaft, and have the Scruggs shaft matched for a second shaft with the cue. What can I say, it came out beautifully thanks to some phenomenal work by Chuck Starkey. The cue hits like a dream with both shafts

Anyways, here's some pre-conversion pics:
(Doesn't look like purpleheart eh? ;))

The original shaft is the deep honey colored one, and the slightly lighter one is the Scruggs sneaky shaft
I had the cue matched to. Great veneers and it looks ALOT more like purpleheart now! Again, can't say
enough about Chuck Starkey's work. His turnout time is unbeatable and cue plays lights out.

And here's the post-conversion pics...

Looks great! I've got a pair of Titlist conversions - one is purple heart - and I love the way both hit.

Chuck did a really nice job returning this cue to its simple beauty.

Thank you. He definitely did. The only thing he added was a really small black hoppe buttcap to protect the butt. Other than that it's really clean and simple which is how I think it looks best. Not too flashy, but still pretty :).

I agree. I loved the way the Scruggs sneaky I had hit and I partially attributed it to the way the joint is set up on them, true wood to wood with a small pilot. I figured the hit of old wood combined with that kind of set up would make for a great cue, and it definitely didn't disappoint.

Incredible transformation! The colors really came back to life.

This is something I have always been interested in but alas, I can never find a proper cue for conversion.

This is the one :). I thought it was rosewood to be honest when I first saw it. Surprise surprise ;)

Great looking cue!!! I had a similar experience with a Tru Balance. Nothing better than finding hidden treasure.

2 thumbs up!
wrapless is the way to go, to keep the cue as original as possible, I can only imagine the hit!
How could you know it was purpleheart without sanding down?

To be honest I didn't. I thought it was rosewood or maybe sapele when I first saw it, but when it was cleaned up i turned out to be some of the most vibrant purpleheart I've ever seen. The cue hits great, especially with the original shaft. The scruggs shaft doesn't play to shabby either ;)
