My Rhino experience

To me it is a indication of newness, not one that has been returned. Nothing to fret about.
By the way, my comment was only that it surprised me that they didn't clean them. They sound like a great deal and they definitely get positive reviews.

I also own a Little Monster break cue. I prefer it to the Komet mostly due to the sport grip.
It too, came very dirty and needed a similar wipe-down.

I guess they are buzzing them out so fast that they just don't bother with the wipe down. I've gotten 2 new american cf shafts, predator and mcdermott, wiped them when I got em and nothing visible came off. Of course they did cost more than double what the Rhino or the Little Monster does.

Unable to find a Cynergy 12.5 radial pin anywhere on the face of the earth, I bit the bullet and bought a Rhino shaft. Thought I'd share my thoughts.

Purchased directly from the Rhino web site; ordered on 1/31, delivered on 2/6.

The shaft was packaged well.

8 Layered High-Performance F1 Crystal Cue Tip. Some people said they got an extra tip with theirs, but I didn't.

It fit my Predator P3 butt like a glove.

Wiped down with an alcohol cloth. Damn! Definitely do this the first thing.

After playing with it for an hour or so, I must say I'm impressed for an under-$200 CF shaft. I'd highly recommend it. I think it hits more like a Cuetec Cynergy than it does a Predator Revo.

Looks like they aren't even sealing it.

I have one on order now:

But I think any deterioration under normal use would be so slow it would approach 0?

I've never heard of carbon pool shafts delaminating and you know there are some really crappy ones out there,
For the price rhino is charging, who will ever care about this? As far as I'm concerned, these are cheap enough to be considered disposable.

Sort of...but what about paying for the privilege of carbon micro particles in your skin?!
Don't know about this and frankly, I can't summon the energy to care. My life is problematic enough with top tier issues to address and correct...this one I can deal with after 100 lifetimes have gone by.

Maybe, maybe not. The delamination would likely be on a very small scale, but if a 'new' shaft is leaving as much residue as the OP showed, I sure-as-shit would not buy one.

The unpolished product doesn't bother me but prolonged exposure to unknown dust does.

Yaah. Especially if I'm gonna start worrying about something I'm pretty ignorant about.

Yeah, I get that. It's likely not an issue with as little as *should* ever come off the shaft. The big thing to me is: If they can't be bothered to perform the final step of sealing, or at least cleaning the shaft, what other steps did they skimp on, or completely ignore?

I assume you are a cue maker based on your AZB handle? In any event, you make a fair point. I assume that Rhino intends on playing in the lower price point category, and as such, any analysis should take this into consideration. Not trying to make excuses for them, but it be what it do

I'm a fledgling cuemaker, basically in the process of setting up the operation, so not actually completing much yet. I first built cues over 25yrs ago, did my first half-splices when I was 20, so I have had a bit of time to consider these types of things.

Your analysis is absolutely fair and informed consumers should consider all of that.
