:confused: Wayne said I have a warped butt. I know I am but now my butt is too :D But the shaft is flawless. He was stunned by that. He says it's not going to affect my stroke.

I have to honestly and sincerely ask, is this an AZ Forums etiquette thing? Her question doesn’t seem in poor taste and would be reasonable in a live and public conversation.

To your specific point, she didn’t actually ask what a specific person would specifically charge as far as I can tell; it seems like she is just asking in general what she should expect it to cost. As far as understanding and accounting for price variance due to location, inherent costs, etc… I think it goes without saying that when given an idea on a price, one’s mileage may vary depending on all the specifics when she gets down to business.

I just think it's reasonable to ask such a thing in public she could get the input of different people, and also since it would just allow her to know what to expect. If she asks in private, she would either only get the word of one person, or have to do a lot of “footwork” to get a variety of opinions. In either case, she wouldn’t have the broad audience to provide consensus on whether the cost is reasonable or not.

I could see that if she asked a specific person for an actual quote in the forum that it may irk some, though I don’t know that I would say it is in bad taste. At that point, the service provider could just send her a note offline providing a quote with an explanation.

Anyway, I’m not trying to pick at anything here, I’m honestly just curious if asking for a price expectation on AZ is considered a no-no (in other forums I participate in it’s no problem). If so, I have to say that I see it here on AZ a lot without anybody calling it out, so I’d seen this feedback before.

So to summarize, I'm just askin' :)

Take into consideration that it costs a lot more to live in New York than it does in Bumbleberg Kentucky and add that to the amount of experience someone has, then add proximity and time for repair and you come up with an impossible question to answer.

You've been given one lead, ask him. I'd also say that you should talk to RAT Cues on here as I have heard that he does outstanding work.

I would go with Tom Hay as well. You can PM him in the Cue Machinery forum. At least he will be fairly close to you.

Altho you can try and straighten a pin, I would never feel comfortable
using something in the tool post and applying pressure to the pin.

Altho it can be done and has been done thousands of times, I feel that the possibility of applying too much pressure might split the fore arm.

Much easier and less risk to replace the pin. I doubt that you could ever hope to completely straighten the pin and the only result may be just enuff to make the cue roll half decently after that.

Repair prices may vary a tad but with any repair man, but its not going to cost you a ton.
