My Routine Shots

I think in many cases you resent him because he asks questions that your own insecurity wouldn't allow you to ask out loud.

WRONG!!! Perhaps it is because he urged someone else to not share what they learned from a lesson, claiming that sharring a play by play account is unfair to the instructor. Well no one asked for a play by play. What is good for the goose is good for the gander, no? So in the same manner, if he asks for help and the answer was found in an instructional tape or from a lesson we learned we should not tell him by his standards, no? I never had a problem with these posts, and engourged them until that. But insecuirty? Andrew that is ignorant and unsubstantiated.

i never "Urged" someone not to share. i believe i just said they might want to think twice before sharing ALL that went on. and i dont see anything wrong with sharing ideas/thoughts/opinions, etc, unless someone is trying to find out everything an instructor taught them.

i can recall giving a couple of golf lessons to this woman (Ann) about 15 years ago. then there was this sexy babe (Daphne) that was wanting to learn to play, and instead of coming to me she was having Ann instruct her on everything i had taught her. imagine my disappointment on that one.........:(

its funny though, of the 21 responses to this thread, 17 of them have been of the "Trashing DCP" variety. the others seem genuinely interested, as were the two PMs i got. would be nice to get some quality responses on what you posters think of the routine shots i diagrammed.

uh, nope, sorry, NO WAY am i posting a video of myself on the Internet. unless i can find my ski mask, then i might consider it.
Geez, I just honestly thought we could help if we could see some shooting.

I'm not sure why you would be so self-conscious about posting a vid of you playing pool or performing a drill. You already post words about the varied shots you missed, whats the difference if we read about it or see it?

If you really want the help you are requesting, give us the tools to help.

Well, as you may have noticed I prefaced that statement with "I think", meaning that it is my conjecture, and is by nature unsubstantiated, and as you also may have noticed, your name was not in my post, because I wasn't talking about you or any other specific poster. I still think that many of the people who bash DCP do so out of insecurity.

DCP - maybe you can post some of the other shots you enjoy practicing. Select maybe, your top 25 shots - graph up a table on them, post them, and then we can review them for you on whether they are worthy of practice time. Heck.......make it your top 50. Looking forward to your post.

.........................................I couldn't resist.

This post is not ment to sound like I am bashing you. So please don' take it that way. Personally, I feel that DCP's posts can be classified in "asked an answered type" The posts are rundamentary at best. I don't think it is in relation to insecurity but more so an elitist approach. very different than my feelings (since my speed is nothing to brag about either). I think it is more ego than insecurity. But imagine if this were a baseball forum.

"I do I hit a curve ball"
How do hit a fast ball"
If there is two outs and a full count should the runner go on th pitch.
What is the infield fly rule.

These posts would get old quick. Just like how do i draw the cue ball on a long straight in shot.

The posts come to frequently. He then also argues when he hears something he doesn't like. I used to like his posts when they were original and opened a discussion that was thought prevoking. They have lacked that as of late. I mean a post that asks the forum what he is going to learn from Scott Lee is just nonsense. Especially after scott answered it to him directly.

i dont believe i ever asked what i am going to learn from Scott Lee. there is no way to know that until it happens. i asked what i can expect. HUGE difference.

anyway, hows about end of argument/flame stuff here, and some thoughts/ideas on the shots that were diagrammed?

and please, just stay away if all you are going to do is hurl insults - deal?

DCP - just a little advice:

Why not make a thread simply called "DCP - questions and shots", and everytime you have a new shot you would like to share or a new question you would like to ask, post it in that thread, and it will bump up on front page. Those who are interested will read that thread, and others who are looking for different information on the Main Forum won't have to search through 500 posts to find it ;)

The 'other' stuff has already been covered. So I will leave it at that.

shot 1- This is a valuable shot to know, but it is not routine. If it is to you, practice position play more.

shot 2- Where you diagramed the cueball going to is in line with a scratch in the corner. Try to never get on a line to scratch if at all possible.

shots 3&4- routine shots. But practice different position play off of these shots.

Shot 6- Good one to practice. This shot can be a real game saver. Also set it up so the cb is parallel to the ob and shoot it in the side and in the corner.

thanks for the thoughts Neil, i appreciate it.
