so I bought my diamond pro am 7 footer on July 15 of this year. (total out the door price of 5500). it was delivered during a heat wave in Southern California, and of course I started playing on it as soon as the installer left. I got the tournament blue cloth, and the family room I put it in didn't have much air flow. so after about 1 week I finally noticed that my sweat and body oils from my left hand were starting too make the cloth grimy. I dont use much chalk, and no powder at all. so the only containment I figured out was sweat.

and of course I kept playing, by myself, during the whole hot summer. I tried quick clean, another felt cleaner from manning cues, nothing really worked. tried using a little oxi-clean in some water, no luck. the middle of the table is fine, but the rails look dirty.

I have been playing every day for three months, and im like what do I do now?????

do I have to get refelted every 6 months?? by the time I figured out to wear a long sleeve shirt while playing it was too late, it seemed like the felt sucked in my body sweat from my wrist.

If I do get mad enough to refelt, what color would hide the stains the best?????

IDK how many hours per day you play, but a top commercial room will replace the cloth about once every 6 month, if the tables get 8 or so hours of play per day.

I've had my Simonis 860 tournament blue on my home table for 6 years now, and it still looks great, IMO. My hands never sweat though, so I can't comment on that.

My suggestion without having your issue (I'm guessing, in other words:grin: ), is to wear a glove on your bridge hand. Pick one that covers the finger tips.

Good luck!

I think playing during a heat wave for two months in southern California doomed me.
now that it has cooled down im fine, but it seems like the damage has been done.
I play 2 to three hours a day, pretty much every day.

I can get the table recovered for three hundred bucks. whats the best color to hide stains?

Shout laundry spray helped for me with a stain on simmonis.
It’s worth a shot.
It didn’t discolor my green cloth but I would try a small area first.

Also, be sure you aren't chalking in a way that gets chalk dust on your bridge hand...meaning hold the chalk with your bridge hand.

Perhaps a towel wipe between racks would be helpful too, but I guess you prob tried that.

And a fan

And no more chicken wings.

Blue or green. There are no other colors!

I wouldn't use any cleaners on it, it may appear cleaner initially but cleaners have soap in them, soap is sticky and will attract dirt. I have a similar situation, I get a bucket of very hot water dip it in the water, wring it out (still very wet, almost dripping) and wipe down the table. Use care on the cusions, try to avoid the feather strip area, there is wood and glue on that side. Do the entire table as quick as possible, if one area dries it could leave a ring.
If you do recover I would recommend cleaning the cloth at least once a week. As far as what color hides dirt best, I'm not sure but I think green would be better than blue.

Over the years, we've had a few players in our poolroom, some of them very good players, that had a huge issue with a sweating bridge hand/palm. Even when our tables are perfectly cleaned and vacuumed, every table that these guys played a match on had visible sweaty hand/palm marks all over the table. I never remembered having a problem getting these sweaty palm marks off the Simonis, but it sounds like you play a whole lot of pool on that table. A pool glove would seriously help save your cloth. Also, if you can get your table re-covered in Simonis for $300, cloth and labor, that's a heck of a deal!

Table

$300 to recover a diamond with Simons....? Sounds like your getting a butcher job...anybody that is a professional and knows what they are doing when it comes to properly recovering a diamond is a bit more than $300.... don’t hire from Craigslist..
What area of California are you in?

Also you can clean the cloth with Woolite. Brush it in with water on the rails and bed.
It will remove a lot stuff and you can keep that cloth playing a long time.

Use a dry towel to dry the cloth as much as possible then turn a fan on the table. You'll
be amazed. I've seen this done quite a bit and the table will look new.

Glove. Glove, Glove.
