My talk with the Ralph Greenleaf novelist J.D. Dolan

I am very much interested in reading this book when available. I knew many oldsters when I started playing in 1965 who spoke about Greenleaf in the most positive manner. I was with a friend in 1970 at the Stardust Casino Open when Mosconi told us that the best pool player he ever saw was Greenleaf. I knew guy who played with Greenleaf who told me he would play most players 75 no count 14.1 and win consistently. He apparently earned over 50K a year in his prime during the late twenty's and early 30's most of this coming from his partnership with Brunswick Corporation. That could be translated to over half a million dollars in todays money. Can't wait for the book..........

Greenleaf was huge in the 20's -- I believe he won 14 World Championships.

He was good-looking, charismatic, articulate... and loved the bottle. In his heyday he traveled the vaudeville Orpheum Circuit and gave exhibitions with a huge mirror canted overhead so the audience could see the shots. I spoke to JD a few years back about the book project and, at least at the time, he was coming to the conclusion that Greenleaf might have been the greatest pool player of all time. I look forward to reading the book.
