Mystery cue ID help

So just picked this up owner told me it was a McDermott. The joint, buttcapp, and ferrule said otherwise. The joint is 5/16x14 and the screw extends an inch pass the collar. It is 58 inches even split and seems alittle thinner then most steel jointed cues I've had. Hits amazing considering I don't like most steel jointed cues I've played with. Something about it makes me think phillippi.

The description of hit reads like a philippi...possibly the most underrated cues out there, imo.

Helpful, i know:D

Doesn't look like a McDermott to me. Butt cap looks too long, but I'm no expert on them by any means.

The only McDermotts with such features would be from about 1975 or earlier, before their first catalog and before the famous clover logo. Delrin butt cap, old school weight bolt, piloted 14 pin, stainless collar. I think I have seen three, and I think I have pics of them in my database (at least two of them anyway). I really highly doubt this is one. If it is one, it would be very rare, as well as very hard to positively identify.

More like a Phillippi as was said or something similar I think. There are numerous possibilities at this point I think. That longish pin and how the pin is finished on the end may be a clue.

Pin looks a lot longer than any piloted joint that I remember.

Indeed. Hence it could be a clue.

It's possible this is an "early effort" by any of a number of makers or hobbyists.

Really hard to say at the moment, but worth pursuing.
