I took a flyer on this cue, it is in rough shape but came with 4 original shafts. I really don't know who made it and I would love your help. It's 5/16 18 pin and to me it looks like whoever made it was trying a Gus Szamboti tribute, the points come up to 2 and a half inches from the joint collar, the screw in the bumper is exactly like my Gus and so is the weight bolt but there is no way this a Szamboti. Anyone have any ideas? If its worth restoring it needs a refinish and a new butt cap but I don't think I will have anyone work on it until I figure out who made it and whether its worth restoring. I would love to hear hear your input. Thanks in advance for looking photo (76).jpg

It is worth restoring but I would wait til it is ID'ed. You don't want to remove anything that would help in ID. Nice looking cue.

Thanks subdude, I paid $300 for it and I figured worst case scenario I could get at least $200 back if I sold the 4 shafts, there's definitely some risk but I thought it was worth gambling on.

My early Jensen has a 5/16-18 pin, and the cue looks almost identical to the Szamboti cues I've seen with maple windows in the butt sleeve.
I would take some pics, but the cue is sitting in Chris Byrnes shop being refinished.

Didn't the early joss cues have a 5/16x18? When I first saw it, it reminded me of a early or pre 70's

Also reminds me of that Richard black that was posted here awhile back, the one that was Gina-esque

That ring above the wrap is definitely the wildcard here. Doesn't particularly remind me of anything. Looks to be a very well made cue, though. Quite Boti-esque.

Thanks everyone for the input, still no definitive answer. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this cue.

this was my first guess.....however like everyone else said the ring is key....i would like to see if anyone has a black with a smiliar ring above the wrap or has anyone seen one of richards cues with the ring pack like that....

Neat cue. I have looked at it several times. Still can't say for sure. Looks like the buttcap was long and the only person that I know used a longer cap was Tad. Although, I don't think it is one of his. But he does use the same joint. I still like it either way. Best of luck to you.

The bumper screw is a hex, it's the exact same screw that in in my Gus but it's 5/16 18 pin and to the best of my knowledge Gus didn't use that kind of pin and the veneers look wrong. I hope this helps. Thanks again to everyone that repiled.
