Name For A New Pool Hall

How about the Dirty Duck.

You could make your logo a cartoon duck holding a cue, with a trench coat held open and a big 8 or 9 ball over his crotch. You could probably sell some T-shirts to the college crowd and get some free advertising out of it. On the front have the trench coat closed with a saying, "Are you a dirty duck?" or something and on the back with your normal logo have "Everyone gets lucky at the Dirty Duck", or "Everyone Loves a Dirty Duck" or something along those lines.

Free advertising and a little extra revenue from the shirts.

"The Temple of Spherical Iniquity"

The name comes from a line in something I wrote a long time ago on ASP:

Half Past Midnight

Yeah, well then...
Johnny and Jet scooted down to Juxtaposed Joes
And Jap-smacked Rooster at the 3C.

Lucky and Angel Lady were juking high and mighty,
Pounding the banks, swigging Jaegermeister
Colder than the nipples on a witches teats.

Killer Joe walked in
And stone cold silence,
As cues were held like switchblades.

Hustlers gasped and moaned
Lowing like koo koo cows
At the slaughter room entrance.

Kyle and Kim, (that communist kid),
Kicked back Coronas like bullet trains,
Itching for the jellybeans at the 9-ball.

Flashback Freddie freaked
As a long ago trip exploded in full Technicolor terror
As he was squeeeeeezzzin off the money shot
In a high stakes comp.

Hankering for glory,
All together, yet alone.
Reaching for sacredness in a holy temple of spherical iniquity,
Glory looming closer, yet ephemeral and intangible,
Teasing, like a trollop shining off a coot.

I've toyed with the daydream of opening a poolroom someday. I would call mine, "MFK BILLIARDS".

I don't like a cheesy pool room name. I like something with a touch of class.

Silver Tip
Golden Grip
Daffy's
Pennsylvania Pool
Snooker's
Shakey's
Sloppy's
Vortex Pool
The Black Hole

Endless choices, let your imagination run wild and suddenly the perfect name will pop into your head. Don't just think pool related names.

I would try to stay away from any name that has rack, balls, pockets, holes etc. or a name that could be confused with something other than what it is. The owner of a local place here gets calls and girls comming in to apply as exotic dancers because they think the name refers to a strip club. He doesn't mind though. He thinks it is funny. He thinks it is even funnier when they come in, see all of the tables and still think it is a strip club. They think the tables are the stages.

Billiards in a name is better than pool. Pool could refer to swimming.

I am stuck on this ...

Well, for some reason, I am stuck on this one, like a song I can not get out of my head:

Boney Betty's Billiard Cafe (with a western gunslinger, poolplayer theme and decoration)

I have always related Good Poolplayers, hustlers, and Road agents to being like gunslingers of the old West, shootiong down all competition ... lol

Boney Betty is the 'Madam' and owner of the Saloon Poolhall, so to speak.

It just has a certain 'catchiness' to me that is unforgettable ... ROFL

Not to rain on your parade, but I don't see how an 8 table room without liquor can make it. I would think that 16 tables would be the minimum in order to create the cash flow needed, without other sources. Even at $25.00 an hour on your busiest night, your place better be full a lot. Does anybody out there know of a sucessful room with 8 tables?

WELL BIGBOY,
DO YOU HAVE A POOLROOM OF YOUR OWN? DO YOU OWN ANY TYPPE OF BUSINESS? HELL, DO YOU HAVE A JOB? THE ROOM WE'RE BUYING HAS BEEN THERE FOR 6 YEARS AND HAS TURNED A PROFIT EVERY YEAR. AN EIGHT TABLE ROOM(WHICH I KNOW IS SMALL) HAS MUCH LOWER OVERHEAD AND OPERATING COST THAN A SIXTEEN TABLE ROOM. THINK ABOUT IT, IF YOU HAVE EIGHT TABLES AND THEY ARE FULL, THAT'S A GOOD THING, BUT IF YOU HAVE 16 TABLES AND ONLY 8 ARE BUSY, THAT'S A BAD THING.

I NEVER SAID I WANTED TO GET RICH, I JUST WANT IT TO PAY FOR ITSELF, AND GIVE ME SOMEWHERE TO PLAY. I OWN ANOTHER BUSINESS THAT PAYS MY BILLS, AND PAYS FOR MY CUE COLLECTION. THIS WAS SOMETHING I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO DO, SO I DID IT.

IF YOU DON'T FEEL IT WILL WORK, THAT IS YOUR OPINION, I JUST DON'T AGREE.

P.S. I ASKED FOR NAMES, NOT FOR SOMEONE TO TELL ME THAT IT WOULD OR WOULDN'T WORK.
