I am just friendly and helping you because I hope it will improve my chances of emptying your pockets after some sets of one-pocket. Perhaps you will miss more often when playing me because you don't want to take the money from the friendly foreigner ;)

I forget, what kind of spot did you say you were going to give me.? Especially since you play Nasty Napoleon even. He only beat me like a drum at 9-7.

You're not the kind of man that would be afraid to play an even game are you? ;)

Just let me know what you think an even game would be, you know with my game going down every year and yours going up like a rocket. :)

Buzzer (Brian Saleh) was a nice guy but it doesn't look like he has been doing too good on the circuit in the last couple of years. Hope he is doing well.

Thanks for being friendly. I look forward to meeting you and playing you one day. Just let me know what you think is a fair game so I can start saving my social security checks.

I think Brian is most of an UK 8-ball player. Read some sad posts from him during the non-payments-period of the IPT. He had quit his job, bought table ++... (think it was him, not sure. I've got Alzheimer Light). Do not believe he will play American Pool for a long time, guess he has switched back to UK 8-ball again... :(

For your information, I did not play even with the Nasty Napoleon. (I like that nickname, I will definitely call him that when I see him next time). The spot was 8-7, but it should have been more... I didn't lose all sets, but I doubt he played his best. He wanted higher bets, I guess. Me and Marcus always agree to play one-pocket each time we meet, but till now we just haven't found time for it.

An even game between you and me? You have to make as many balls as your age, and I as many balls as my age. Deal? :D

I have no idea if Brian Saleh is or isn't who you are thinking of re the AZB Room but you can find his picture here and maybe that will help.....

http://www:internationalpooltour.com/Players/Bio_Saleh_Brian.aspx

He played on the IPT after a spell of coaching/preparation under Freddy The Beard but was indeed better known as a uk8ball player under his former name of Brian Halcrow and nickname Buzzer. I don't think he plays much at all now. He certainly fits the description of being a nice guy.

Edit.....that link seems to corrupt itself as it's not what is typed and won't correct by edit.......if you go to the "players" section of the IPT site and click on his name you will get his picture.

Joey,
Yes, Roy was correct, that was Brian. I now remember you guys playing this year. He seemed like a very nice guy.

I believe he was the player who went to Chicago to work with Freddy the Beard last year.

Didn't he have some harsh words with someone in the room (??you??).

Also, didn't Roy Steffensen say something about coming to America this year for DCC (I was hoping he would stop in Indy around that time). We are working on getting Danny DiLiberto AND Efren Reyes to do a session together in Betmore's Basement (emphasizing one-pocket) just before or after DCC. I'm going to assume you both might be interested. I'm just hoping there IS a DCC and that it will be at least a shadow of it's former self.

Hi,

I said so, and I tried my best to make it, but things didn't happen that way... :(

I am trying again this time, and I assure you that DCC, New Orleans and Betmore's Basement are all stops I am planning to make ;) Just hope I am able to get to DCC in 09, it's the only tournament I really want to experience atleast once in my lifetime.

Looking forward to meet both you and JoeyA sometime!

If I could get a chance to visit Betmore's Basement while Efren was there, I would be in heaven :)

In the meantime, I will have to just play Efren in Manila the next 3 weeks... It's a shitty job, but someone's gotta do it...

Roy-boy,
We are anxiously awaiting the reports. Have a great trip.

P.S. - be careful about giving Efren too much weight; he's kind of a sandbagger I hear.

I only had good words with Brian Saleh. No harsh words with me..... and I didn't see him arguing with anyone else. He did have a hard time with the guy he was hanging at the DCC with. I think his traveling companion didn't like him hanging in the AZ Room. :p

It will be nice to meet Roy after all of the posts he has written. It is almost like I already know him.

Rob has been known to be a bit abrasive on occasions (which of us haven't?:)) but is generally considered a very sound bloke around the Uk pool circuits as well. Going by what his former frequency of playing pool was it is fair to say that he came out of what would have been for him almost pool retirement to play the IPT.

As I'm sure Brian would agree Rob probably has the slightly stronger uk8ball CV being, I think, a past World Champion amongst other achievements.

Must admit I don't know what the entry criteria were for the AZB room but it's not obvious why Rob wouldn't be considered just as eligible for entry as Brian. He has probably posted nearly as much on here as Brian has.

Mike,
You have to be on the list. If you don't make the A list, you're going to have problems being on the B list.

I don't believe I had harsh words with Rob McKenna either but I wouldn't know Rob McKenna's name as a professional pool player or his face and anyone can claim to someone else's screen name. Rob would have to get my attention on the pool table if I don't already recognize him. :)

If ANY AZBer wants to play in the AZ Room, they can send in their money in advance and will automatically be added to the A list, whether they are still considered a professional pool player or not.

I've been in the AZ Room quite a bit at DCC and I can tell you from personal experience that many people (not AZers) try to slip in and get some free pool time on the AZ pool tables. We love to have professional pool players hanging out at the AZ Rooms but it isn't our job to recognize a professional pool player. They either have the credentials and the national or international recognition or they have to establish it. It's not easy telling anyone "NO, you can't play pool on these tables - This is a private room - If you want to play here, check out www.azbilliards.com on the Internet and become a regular poster there and you can then join." It gets kind of old explaining that. Maybe we need a sign. Yeah, another sign is all we need.

Anyway, hopefully whatever was said to Rob McKenna won't affect him the rest of his pool career.

That's clear Joey, thanks for the info. Will certainly bear it in mind if I ever make it there myself:)
