Mr. X says "We called the 5x10's Rebel Traps. Mr. Y moaned and groaned about the big tables, but there was nothing he could do because 30 years ago you had a better chance of finding Paul Revere riding at Aqueduct than finding a 4x8 table in a top room in New York !"

From a pool book !

Who is Mr. X and Mr. Y ?

Name that quote !

Maybe Mr. X is this guy....

Mr X sounds like Jersey Red.
And the Rebel Trap is what the old 5x10 pool table was called
at the 7-11 in NYC....circa 60'S

don't know ' Y ' or even 'how'

Am I close, Gary? C'mon, tell us the book

Sorry, I can't look it up (lent out my copies of "The Hustler", and "The Color of Money."

Sounds like a conversation that Eddie Felson had in "The Color of Money" when he learns he needs to travel and play bar table pool to make money. The conversation would have been with Minnesota Fats or the Chinese guy he gambles with first on the road?????

You have the right time frame but it is not Jersey Red !

Sorry not those books !

My copy is loaned out, but I think this came from the "Rags to Rifleman" book. Can't remember exactly who said what so I'm going to guess Mr. X was Johnny Ervolino and Mr. Y was Eddie Taylor?

From a pool book ! The Bank Shot and other great robberies

Who is Mr. X and Mr. Y ? X was Fats, Y was Lassiter

Name that quote !

Don't know if its right. Just a SWAG.

Mr. Y was Hubert "Daddy Warbucks" Cokes.

I think the quote was also in the new Titanic Thompson book "The Man Who Bet on Everything".
