Name this table :)

My local pool hall uses Gandys... so is it worth the 800 dollars for the table?
What should the rail hight be,i would like to look at the table tomorrow.

It looks like it's in good shape, I have a Gandy very similar to that one, some need work , some dont, if the cushions seem to play ok, I would offer 600 and see what happens.

It does have 1 inch slate with brass pins and a hardwood 2inch frame and hardwood rails so if set up correctly with the proper rail height they play pretty good.

Cushion height should be 1 7/16"

Big thanks to both of you guys!!!!

It will be my first table buy so im not really sure what to expect, The Realkingcobra is going to be coming down this way I'm going to have to see if i can get him to stop by and set it up for me if i can. Im going to change the cloth to simonis 860 anyway.

I can't remember the name of this table off the top of my head but don't get this confused with the Big "G"... Big G is a pretty stout table if its put together correctly. The table listed here sold for $1500 new.

Its a Gandy Sportsman... Just remembered the name. I would keep looking if I were you. jmho

It's a Gandy Sportsman on this model I stay away from it everyone I worked on was swaybacked or real low in the middle almost doubled up the shims in the midle but none on the ends. I do have a few extra Gandy frames that are from the Big G series that kinda look like the Brunswick Anniversity pedestal legs or Ohlausen pro type legs. This style of leg was moved from the ends to about 18-14" to better support the frame and slate whithout the swayback problems.

I had bought 25 of them a year ago now I just have a few parts and pieces. Look at the rails underneath most are made from popluar wood and a few I had were Mahogany wood.

As for play they all play great a little tighter then you wood expect. From a table mechanics view the had a few issuies compared to some of the better brand tables. Gandy's just to have a high resale value or sought after by players as for a common home owner that wants to work on thier game with a low budget then its worth it just dont invest your life savings into a table that would only fetch 1,000 fixed up.

That is the prettiest Gandy I have seen so far.

Best of luck,

Hi Chris, what happened with the table?

I think if your pool hall uses them then that would be an advantage for you to have one at your home.

Very few used $800 pool tables are perfect , the same can be said for a $4,000 table. It's the person who puts it together that matters so dont be afraid to buy it if the price is right.

I looked at it and could have sworn it was the Gandy Hustler model of table, we only have the Gandy Big G's and the Gandy Hustler model of tables up in Washington State, at least that's the only one's I've ever seen up here.
