Napa national payout issue

So Zpele when you said "main office", I'm guessing you meant national right ? Either way 50% for L.O. sounds too high for GoBilliards P/E ratio or profit margin that Kerr got all excited over.

Also one question. Can you buy in to National tournament or only by qualifying ?

Yep I was talking about the national office. I would love to hear from them so we can put this all behind us.

I don't want to speak too exactly of the percentages. Back when I was in talks with them over acquiring a license I believe that is what it was but it very well could have changed.

I believe you can only qualify. I am not aware of the ability to buy in.

You can qualify several ways. If you don't qualify by the regular methods, you can have a qualifier tournament in your local area. just get 4 -16 of your pals together and everyone throws in $XX and the winner is in. I don't know the exact rules for this but they have a matrix for it as well. the more players the more who qualify.

Exact numbers for 8ball were as follows:

Masters/grandmasters division had 88 players
Class "A" had 159
Class "B" had 175
Class "CDE" had 120

That is 454. there might be a very few that played in the other tournaments that didn't play 8 ball but that number is very low. They knew how many were coming well in advance, yet they still kept the wool over the eyes of the players and the vendors.

Transparency is the key to longevity.

Shows a total of 1195 entries into ALL of the events. That doesn't mean 1195 distinct bodies though, as there was a LOT of overlap between the events. Excel is telling me there were 677 unique names across these 1195 entries.

The entries are up, according to the guy who was running the stream, from last year; which is a good sign, since that likely means more distinct people traveled.

But... this is quickly becoming a dead horse.

And yes, of course the $40 was to replace the coin drop - but you can't tell me it's a pure happenstance that the prize fund exactly matched the number of entrants' greens fees.

Once registration was closed, several weeks before the tournament, NAPA knew this would be the Maximum entries they could have. After that, it was just a matter of how many of the 677 would show up. 90% of them did. The point still remains that NAPA knew well in advance exactly how much money they would have to pay out and how many people were eligible to show. You say that number is 677 I won't argue even though that number seems high.
