NAPA or UPA

Bigtruck.

I'm here at NAPA Nationals. I was looking for you so I could imtroduce myself. You are not here. What happened? LOL

Speaking from experience...

Alright so as previously stated- I am looking to become a League Operator in my area. There is currently a vacuum here and players have no other options outside of the APA.

Does anyone have any opinions on the UPA versus the NAPA leagues?

They are both attractive for different reasons which I'll list below:

NAPA license costs less than the UPA and the player base is about as large.

NAPA has a national tournament every year.

UPA is based off of pro experience and has close ties to the pros.

UPA seems to have more support for the league operators as far as training goes.

One of the main things that is holding me back from the UPA is a lack of national tournament and the cost associated with buying a license.

Thanks for any input you guys can give me.

As some of you may know from my previous posts, I've been playing league pool since 1966. This includes eight local/regional leagues and four national league systems. I have no experience with UPA, although I know the founder to be a nice fella. No experience with TAP or NAPA either. But I would rank the national orgs I've played in as follows: BCAPL, VNEA, NPBA (long defunct) and APA. Had very few problems with BCAPL and VNEA, and many great experiences.

May I suggest that potential league operators consider ACS (www.americancuesports.org). They are a well-run outfit whose founder has many years of experience. I've been trying to organize a BCAPL and/or ACS league in my area for eight years with no success, mostly do to lack of cooperation by room owners and an area saturated with (drowning in?) APA.

Seeing how your captain is a APA rep, I dont think he would like that. I have talked to a few people around here and trying to do NAPA is like getting someone to cheat on a spouse. I would like to have a NAPA league down here just to see what it is all about. see if you can get any players and I will see what my team thinks maybe we find 25 people to start one.

I just noticed you are from Newark. ROFL Well what, you think an APA rep gets paid or something? What team you playing on anyway?
