Naples, FL

I see a pool hall called Champions Billiards in Naples FL on google maple. I live in Louisville, but if I were in Naples, I would not be afraid to visit this place.

I read a recent review on google maps, and it did not sound like a bad place. I think that just so you mind your own business (not get nosy with anyone for example), and are nice and friendly, then you should be fine in any pool room in the world. But that is just my guess. I have been in some pretty rough looking pool halls with rough looking crouds, and nobody ever bothered me. People are actually a lot cooler then you think they are. Don't judge a book by its cover.

You are correct and I definitely do not judge a book by its cover, some of the junkie looking ones can be the best. In fact two of the 6 pool halls here are my #2 and #3 places to play and have been here for 50 years....

However Champions/AKA Art'sPlace/AKA Sharks Den has been bought and sold quite a few times and it is just not the place I would show my face.

To give you an idea of how bad it is, all of the Naples players play at the bowling alleys or come up to Ft Myers/Cape Coral to play. It is a sore subject with those guys and they will not even go there and would rather play on a few bar boxes at the bowling alleys as I said...

Wasn't there a place called "Art's"? I could have sworn Grady Matthews did an event there a while back. Maybe its gone now? I played there maybe 10 or 12 years ago. Maybe more.

Yes and what is now Champion Billiards, was Shark's Den and before was Art's Place prior...

I will also say that Naples is about the farthest thing from a dump out there but this place is one...

Yes that is Jeff and on the other side of the table is Mario Cruz... Although I am sure you know him, he used to be one of the big boys on the Seminole Pool Tour with Corey Deuel. Justin Hall is usually there if not playing elsewhere in a big tourney.

What I will say is, the One Pocket game is strong in that room from known and unknown players...

Small world, the pool world....although I'm located 1,200 mls. away from where this pic was taken - I've played Jeff many times..and I've also played Mario twice.
