This should probably be in the wanted section, but here at least I know who's who and can trust most everyone. I'm currently deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan. We have four pool tables at the local MWR in need of refelting. The MWR has the felt for them, and I'm paying out of pocket for one table to level and install Simonis 860. I have nearly everything I need, the last item I need is a decent level. Starrett 98 8" being an obvious choice for value. I'm having a challenge finding a website that will deliver to an APO address. I'd love to purchase a level from a mechanic on this forum, as long as he/she is willing to ship via USPS to here via APO. No reason not to support hard working individuals! : P The 12" will do nicely as well, but would prefer the shorter version if possible. PM's are more than welcome! Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,
Charles Snyder

I wish you the best of luck, and you should feel very fortunate to have tables to play on. I have been to the sand box twice, both times with out any thing to shoot on!

Shipping to an APO is no different then any other postal shipment except a customs form will need to be filled out
which is really quite simple - plus the standard domestic mailing rates apply.

Most web retailers stick to UPS and FedEx because they have daily pickup service.
Few billiards web stores actually carry Starrett but there are plenty of non-billiard sites that do if you want new.
The one Travis3c has would be a good deal at $30

Just a suggestion. Instead of paying for one do they have any machinists on base that you could borrow one from.

if they don't the offer for the 6 " is a great deal

Another possibility. There are usually several of them on Ebay. I bought (2) 18" Starretts on there like new for a pretty good deal. Good luck and thank you for defending our freedom!!!! Tableman

Thanks for the tips guys, after some more searching, littlemachineshop.com has sent me a nice 8" level. To be fair, that website was the first one I came across during my search. My first attempt failed to make it work. I really need to find a business that will send me tools etc that I need here. : )) Cheers!

For efficiency you may be better off having purchases shipped to someone stateside
who can then forward those shipments to you. A lot of outfits that ship only
UPS/FedEx won't make an exception to send someone to the post office to mail a package.

I had thought of that, if it came down to it, I'd have sent it to my wife, and asked her to mail it to me. As it is, I'm trying see if she can sneak some contact cement into a box and mail it here. : P Cheers!

Not a good idea. I doubt you would want to be on an aircraft where someone snuck on a hazmat item.
