How do you ensure that the buyer gets the cue safely and satisfactory? Since alot of them are high priced items, do you declare the full price for insurance? Do you get questioned for the price and asked for reference or receipt for custom declaration? Thank you.
Need advice from experienced cue sellers.

Generally any amount requested by buyer under full value is at the buyers risk 100%. No further comment.

whoa, wait a minute. it is the sellers full responsibility that the cue gets to the buyer.
no way should you not fully insure even if the buyer says so. the price of getting the cue to him should be in the deal. as a seller it is your loss if the buyer gets a broken cue or no cue in the mail.
that is the way all businesses ive dealt with do it. no way would i buy anything and know that if it arrives broken i am responsible.

Shipping
I ship USPS..........priority .............fully insured for selling price . inside the usa
Overseas the buyer never wants the cue insured because they will have to pay customs tax .
When that happens the trans action is western union only because the buyer will only want the cue insured for 250.00 $ or less .
If there is any shipping damages its the buyers problem because they didn't allow me to fully insure the full value of the cue .
If you do pay pal the buyer can have the charges reversed ,, that's why its western union transaction.
Do your self a favor and get the cardboard tubing from the carpet store , its almost bullet proof .
Your best insurance to keep from having any issue is good photos of the cue ..
Then there shouldn't be any surprises .
I offer a no questions asked return policy , that way the buyer doesn't beat the cue up so they got excuse to return it .
If the customers doesn't like the way the cue feels they should be able to return it ..
If the seller gives the buyer a hard time on the return , the buyer beats the cue up and tells pay pal the cue was damaged .
Then the seller has to return the money anyway and the seller gets a damaged cue back .
So its allot easier just to give a no questions asked return policy and bypass the head ache .
Plus I don't want to sale anything to anyone something they don't like .

Some international buyers will say "please declare a lower value so I don't have to pay taxes on the import"
I make them agree in writing that I am free of all claims at that point.
Thanks for all the reply. I guess it is a tricky transaction if the buyer doesn't want the full price declared. Most likely, the next high end cue I buy might be in Vegas during one of the big tournaments so I actually see and, hopefully, try the cue and feel the balance.
Selling wise, hopefully i can find someone locally to sell to (which might be very slim) Thanks again everyone.

There is some seller at Vegas that will do trades if you got a decent cue.
As of buying on line , this place has tons of honest buyers and sellers , just look at their I trader rating ..that normally says it all .

the delivery handled differently than what you recommend....full insurance value and signed receipt.

Pack the cue properly......not just bubble wrap or newspaper wrapped around a cue in some cardboard box.

you are foolish if you do that and let the buyer dictate the terms of shipping.
just because you transfer the liability to him doesnt mean that your life wont be made miserable if something happens and he takes a big loss.
i guess if you are willing to have the charges reversed and have him rag you on the forums and slander your rep for two months.

Seller has responsibility on shipping.They have to make sure they send it to the right person,right address and right on time.But when it comes to insurance,it is the buyers option.Sellers would charge the buyer more for shipping if opt to be insured in full price.
I recommend using USPS.I bought some cues overseas and no problem with them.Stay away from Fedex as they will charge you more than the value of the cue.UPS never care.They will just drop it off your door and not concern if stolen.
