No stores sells them nearby. I could buy one today but I want to be sure. Which joint out of the united and wavy has the nicest *thunk* feel to them?

Have you thought about buying a schon with a predator shaft?

I'm trying to find something with a non laminated shaft.
Go with the united joint. It will take any 5/16-14 thread joint. The wavy joint, you'll only have two options for shafts. Mezz or OB. With the united, you could use any aftermarket shaft you'd like. Also, the hybrid shafts from Mezz are not for everyone. If you have a good stroke, and can generate power fairly easily, you'll love it. If you poke stroke, or just baby the ball around the table, the carbon core will prove to be a little too strong for you.
If you are worried about hit feel, Tiger X Pro are great, contact Mike Webb and have him make one of his to fit a Schon, Players HXT has a great hit feel and is cheap, there are quite a few other good makers that make solid maple LD shafts. OB is good also, even though it's a multi-part shaft, the hit is way better than Predator.
Yeah, the OB Classic shaft I really liked, and I thought it hit very similar to a regular maple shaft. I remember thinking it had a hit similar to a Mcdermott. A soft type of hit. It was really nice in my opinion.

An old friend that used the Mezz Hybrid Pro II (attached to an Espiritu cue that he had) told me that it was an extremely stiff hitting shaft (with zero flex), and he did not like it. I think he said something like it feeling like a steel rod that would not flex in the least. That description reminded me of a new Predator Z shaft that I once had (and used for maybe about 15 minutes), and I really did not like it.
Mezz comes to mind for sure.Hi there.
I'm looking for a great quality cue with the satifying hit of a Schon and with the deflection of a predator.
Preferably one piece maple shaft. 12.5mm
Which brands make cues like that?
Thanks
I highly recommend the original Predator pre cat 314 shafts (like the one in this listing, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Joss-Pro-Se...602203?hash=item4b1407cadb:g:8VoAAOSwTM5Y0KV0). They are kind of rare, and have not been made in a very long time. You can still find them pretty often on the used market, for maybe around $150 on average (but some sellers wants $200+ for theirs). I think many would agree that they are the best hitting LD shafts ever made, and to me, they hit much different then any other LD shaft that I have ever tried out. I think most of them came with a 5/16x14 joint, so they would fit perfect on a Schon.
