Need Advice on Designing a Sneaky Pete!

Ive been an avid player for about 20 years. I have played with about every production cue and numerous customs. I have had 3 custom cues designed to my specs or so thought until i received them. I have probably unusual specs that i like. Ive for past 5 years turned my own shafts down because never had cuemaker do exactly the shaft diameter and taper i want. If the taper was close the balance pt would be off or the weight. So what i am looking for is the ultimate sneaky pete or basic custom . I need advice on getting the right combo of woods, materials and construction to fit my preferences. So this is the specs that i like:

1. 12mm shaft slight gradual increase to 13.5mm at 16" Pressed triangle tip.
2. weight can be between 17.75 - 18.25
3. balance pt at 18.25 from butt instead of standard 19

Here is the feel im trying to get.
I like a soft hit and virtually no sound when striking cue ball but has some feed back but very little.

So here are the Questions sorry for so many?

1. What type of woods that give soft hit but gives some feedback but very little?
Does burl woods give softer hit? Do all burls have to be Cored and does this affect hit?
2. What material for ferrule and would longer length ferrule make softer hit? capped or not
3. Ive always preferred 3/8x10 pin but wondering if a g10 would make difference in feel?
4. What type of joint construction for soft hit? Ive shot with a solid ivory joint and currently shoot with solid white phenolic joint cue and i like the hit.
5. Would wood sleeve at joint make a difference?
6. Does using metal pins in cue to join handle to forearm and butt make a difference in feel vs threaded tenon ?

Thanks JL Rowe

An ebony into straight maple sneaky with aluminum, titanium or G10 big pin into wood will get you in the ballpark of weight & balance. Simple phenolic collars should be just fine. A micarta ferrule will give you the mild feel you desire, especially mated with a Triangle. It doesn't have to be complicated. Good luck finding your builder. I'm sure there are a couple around here that are willing & have some good ideas.

Thanks for the info Qbuilder

I am having an Ebony into BEM made to similar specs as yours, but my stick is heavier at 19oz. Definitely go with a linen or phenolic joint. I am going with a Juma ferrule with a medium Triangle tip for the soft hit. I have also heard that a Juma ferrule with a Sniper tip is a very soft hit as well.

EDIT: spelling

You can go to Prather and pick your butt pretty much as you want , if your referring to a full splice ... Variety of woods with multiple veneers ... I've bought some from them and they are great quality ... then you can pick your builder ... I'd go with G-10 for a pin to keep the weight down ... Softer ferrel material with longer length will produce somewhat softer hit but shaft density and taper also figure in ... Ivory or corian ferrel will produce a softer feel as well as the MPI and other ivory subs ... Good luck
