NEED DRIVE PINS, BUT need to have a 1/4" arbor size

Arbor size from 1/4" up to a max of 3/8 arbor.

I have the set of #3, 5/16x14, 5/16x18 and 3/8x10,

But I need the rest of all the other thread types, including all the QR Predator and Viking and Schmelke and Dufferin and the list goes on.

I need these for a cleaning, waxing station, that does not have a mini-lathe chuck, it just has a keyless chuck that will accept a straigh shank arbor up to 3/8".

Let me know what is availavle and who has them and what they run???

Also, is there an adapter for a 3/8x10 thread on the back of the keyless chuck that I could modify to accept a straight shank that is 5/8 in diameter??

It might be a different thread, it is the most common thread for the chuck on a 3/8" drill. Is there and adapter so I can put a straight shank 5/8" into this adapter? Is there a keyless chuck that has a straight shank on the back side like 3/8" straight shank and the keyless chuck goes up to 5/8" or 3/4" in max receiving size?/?

Thanks for the info, or the directions on how to get the info.

i cant find a chuck that has the size thread on the back that goes to a 5/8" capacity

Do you know where I can find a 3/8x24 thread I thinkk this is the thread, and I need a chuck that opens to 5/8" or 3/4"??

Any one know where or who makes one? Need a chuck that has acceptance of 3/8x24 and other end opens to receive up to 5/8 to 3/4"?

The head unit that I have has a 3/8x24 male thread that comes

out of the drive unit. I have looked for a chuck that accepts the 3/8x24 thread and the chuck to open to atleast 5/8", but I cant find anything. All the drive pin sets that I find that are complete are like 5/8" in diameter. So I need to be able to use my head unit that spins the drivers, but I either need a bushing or arbor adapter or something that will move me up in size. I did find an adapter that goes from 3/8x24 and moves up to a grinder thread of 5/8x11, but I cant find any chucks that use this thread size.

I guess my other choice is to get a Morse adapter that has a hardened MT1 on one side and a soft machineable blank on the other side and I can drill and tap out the 3/8x24 thread and then get a chuck that can mount with the MT1 or MT2 and the chuck would open up to 5/8 or 3/4"

Any other ideas or suggestions, without changing the whole head unit to a MT2 style.??

Thanks for any info

It seems to me that the most easy and cost effective way to solve your problem is to just chuck up on the pin end and turn down the shanks to less than 3/8". Probably could be done in 3 or 4 minutes each and problem solved.

Damn Richard. Don't be teaching common sense. lol Next you'll wake him up to "google".

Turining it down wont work, these are 5/8 outside diamter

and they have the female on one side and the male on the other, if you turn it down, you will cut into the internal threads that have been cut out.

Any other suggestion,

mike

Cut them down to 1/2" and get yourself a 1/2" chuck. I use 3/8-24 thread 1/2" chucks all the time. The good ones only cost around $55.

You need an adapter with 3/8 x 24 internal threads.
Anyone with a lathe and minimal machining skills could make you one.
I don't think you will be able to buy one.

A 'real machinist/machine shop' will be cost prohibitive.

If it were me, I would get a cheap, threaded 3 jaw chuck off ebay.
You will then have more flexibility than with a drill chuck.

1/2 x 20, 3/4 x 16 are common options. Grizzly sells a couple of versions
that are 2" - 3" or so. Should work fine. The internal threads of the chuck
will determine what male threads you will need for the adapter.

Dale(who has one on a wood lathe, a small chuck, not an adapter))
