need help on old Muecci Original gambler

I have a old meucci Gambler that my dad gave me back around 1987. My dad owned Boca Billiards in Boca Raton Fla and Steve Mizerak gave this to him.
Been in my closet all that time. The shaft needs to be repaired, the butt is almost mint with original threads. Most gambler models I see have dice under the cards. This one does not. I need to find a value and circa for this stick.. Any help would be appreciated.

What you have there is a MO-10 circa 1975-80 98% - $1,200 /
90% - $900 / 70% - $550 it also might be worth a lot more if you can prove it was Mizerak's. The shaft can be fixed by Meucci, Ryan of Rat cues, Scott Irwin or Proficient Billiards. I recommend in this order.

1) Scott Erwin - his Dad was the foreman of the Meucci plant for 18 years and is very reasonable.
2) Ryan of Rat cues - Excellent
3)Proficient Billiards - Excellent
4)Meucci

Good Luck and very nice cue

thats great, i will send it in to have repaired.. i have to go through my dads album from boca billiards. He says theres a pic of miz with the stick.. hopefully i can find it.

In my opinion it looks to be an early one or special made for the Miz.

MO-10
In my opinion this cue was damaged and repaired once before. The butt sleeve has a partial ring and looks as if it was repaired below that ring. Materials do not match. White material has yellowed in some spots but bright white in others.
Send it to Scott Erwin. No way should this cue go back to Meucci. No way!

definite prior repair... Send it to Scott to put it back right... He did a crown jewel for a friend of mine that had been botched in a repair and it looks as good as the day it rolled out new..... Crying shame of it was I he did such a good job I can't buy it from the guy!!!

I agree the butt sleeve was repaired and needs to be fixed right. :thumbup2:

I figured you'd see it my way :) in my opinion the cue was repaired in multiple spots. The buttcap and lower large white ring look like they came off a European model. The joint should be white as well as the buttcap. I believe the joint was replaced as well. There's a 95% or better chance this cue originally had a brass pin not the stainless one is sporting now. Lastly, the bumpers been replaced. I'd bring it back to original if I owned it. If the OP doesn't have enough interest in it to have it revived send me a PM with a price. I might be interested.

How's Boca doing these days I was in about a month ago on a Sunday night and there wasn't a person in sight. I really hope things are able to turn around there or maybe I just stopped in on a really slow night.

Shot a few games by myself on the coin ops up front.

Also really nice cue you've got there. Boy do I wish it was mine.

Lol my dad closed boca billiards 15 yrs ago, the place turned into a drug hangout with every weirdo hanging out there, he had enough so closed it up. Too bad it was a great place. He's 86 still playing in world class 3 cushion tourneys ... He has a unbelievable cue collection of all new Richard blacks, shulers and a bunch of McDermott from the 80's he won't part with any.

Hm.. It must be a different Boca Billiards I'm talking about then because the one I went to just about a month ago was in Milford, Ohio.

Hi

I just happened to see this thread. I used to play there usually pool not billiards. Although I have played billiards with you dad. I am glad to hear he is still around and doing well.

He was a very good player just a shade under the top players. Accu-stats once taped a 3 C tournament there and there may be tapes of your dad playing.

If I remember right and I often don't, your dad had a nice run of around 15 on Sang Lee in that tournament. It may have been in practice though not a tournament match, I am not sure.

It was a great room when it opened. The nut was a little high and we all wondered if it would make it, but first class all the way.

IMO, the cue isn't worth a ton. If anyone has offered a huge value on the cue, then ask them what would they give for it. I have found they start backing up.

My recommendation is that you keep it. It has more memories and is worth more than anyone could pay. Unless you desperately need the money, just keep the cue.

I wish you the best of rolls,

Ken Strain

Cue looks great and having that letter about it from Bob adds to the whole package. If someone had a Meucci museum that would be a nice cue to have in it.
