Need help with appraising some Memorabilia

Hey everyone, Nice forum you have here =]

I'm more of a casual billiards player, but that's not really why I'm here. My friend's grandfather was a collector of anything billiards (as well as tobacco cards) including minifigures, miniature billiards tables, post cards, magazine articles, billiards balls, stamps, tokens, posters, cues, and a ton of other stuff. I was commissioned to help sell off his collection, but I have really no idea where to take some of the items to get them appraised. As far as I'm aware, most coin shops are probably unfamiliar with billiards tokens. I want to get as much for the family (and myself) as is reasonable, and definitely don't want to get ripped off.

I have taken some pictures of some of the stuff, and uploaded them to photobucket but haven't started on the tokens or cards. I would like to be pointed in the right direction. I'll start taking pictures of the tokens today which will be uploaded in a sub-album subsequently.

Thank you all for any help you can give!

To my admitedly uneducated eye, the collection looks more interesting than valuable.

I especially like some of the miniatures.

Good luck in your selling!

If I were you I would take some more pictures of the cues. Pics of the joints, butts with the bumper removed. There are people here who are experts at identifying cues. There carved ones are probably not worth much at all though. Very nice collection though.

I will be interested in some of the old pictures and pool balls. Just send me a price when you decide what they are worth to you. Use the Private message. Or you can email me at cjdryden@sbcglobal.net

Thank you both for your responses. I will take more pictures of the cues when I am done with the tokens and have a chance to get back over there.

You actually have some extremely interesting items, to include some valuable collectibles.

I would suggest going to several other pool forums with your link to Photobucket to showcase these items. Here's a few you might want to check out:

http://onepocket.org
http://www.billiardsdigest.com/forums/
http://groups.google.com/group/rec.sport.billiard/topics?hl=en

Also, make sure you demand cash or money orders for payment. Don't trust PayPal or checks in the mail. ;)

This forum, AzBilliards, has "the" largest readership, but some of the other forums have a membership that may truly find your items of extreme interest. Good luck!

Again, VERY helpful response. I didn't find any of those when I looked =]

I have posted on 3 other forums so far, ad I'll register with the ones you linked. Thanks again!

Interesting to see that I have a couple of the items that is in the pictures!
What a great collection that is there!
I would love that stain glassed billiards sign for my den! :)

Good luck to the selling of it, looks like there are some real collectable items there!
