So, my son had a table in his garage. They decided to redo their garage. He broke down the table and stored it for the winter in a storage pod. He took the three slates and secured them on one dolly. Problem is the cloth was put on with glue so when the cloth removed and the slates put together in storage they stuck together.

Any ideas how to get the slates apart?

Not a mechanic

But if they're laying down flat,I would stand them up and then find me
some kind of flat bar and just work the edges very carefully. If they are
laying down you're fighting all the weight. Hope this helps a little and I'm
sure a mech will be along with another answer as well.
Good Luck

The slates are standing in the dolly tightly secured.

I don't have a heating gun but if that is the way to go I can rent one from a tool rentals. Do you heat the side of the slate and pry? They are only stuck on the sides where the glue secured the table cloth.

Personally I'd be nervous with a heat gun. Slate is not a good conductor, so it would take a long time to get it hot enough, plus the leading edge will get way hot. Moisture in the slate could possibly cause problems like shaling/splitting. Maybe being overly careful here. Or overthinking.

In the other thread it was suggested to use solvent. I'd go that route. Problem is the solvent you choose will want to soak into the slate. I'd check into Contact Cleaner for electrical components. It evaporates really quick. I'm not sure if this will dissolve the glue but maybe get some 3M contact cement and try it out.

The next thing I wouldn't do is use a pry bar. I can hear the cracking from here. If there's any gap I'd use wood or plastic wedges and go slow. Tap Tap Tap - Spray - Tap Tap - Spray....

Look here for removal suggestions for 3M #77 as an example. From the 3M site.

Shame on me...I thought I had said "thank you". One question though; how do I get the thinner between the glued slates? Put it on a putty knife and push it between?
