I'm still around. Miss you all, I have just been real busy.

My interest in the past year has been in "3 Cushion Billiards" (before seeing it on TV).

I really would like to learn to play the game and how to understand all the angles, diamond system(s), etc., that make a good 3 Cushion Billiard player. I have been to www.caromtv.com It has some pretty good stuff there and did notice a book there called "3 Cushion Billiard Systems" by Sid Banner for $39.95 (to much for a me at the moment). Plus I'm not sure how good it is anyway.

So if any of you can help me in finding 3 Cushion instructional material online or in book form (for
hopefully less than $39.95) it would be appreciated.

I haven't posted in a long time.
I now live in Kane, PA (in North West Pennsylvania).
See our little town at my site: www.kanepa.org

Still running Christian Pool Players Association, we now have members in 38 states, plus some other countries.
That site is: www.christianpoolplayers.com

I always thought Robert Byrne's advance book of pool and Billiards had a pretty good Primer on 3 cushion... and explained basic concepts very well... I'm not a big 3 cushion player, so take my recommendation with a grain of salt...

Ditto on Byrne. Hoppie book is good for beginners. As well as what Billiard Shot said. After that it's personal lessons and $40 books and videos plus playing a ton, with those that already know the game.

For a book that has complete, accurate explanations, you should get Byrne's "New Standard Book of Pool and Billiards." The second half of the book is about 3-cushion. (The other book you got is certainly not for beginners.) In particular, try all of the example shots that Byrne shows. You won't be able to make all of them at the start, but you need to try them to know what the "natural" shots are.

I just recently starting learning to play 3C.
I have been teaching myself, I started out with the Byrnes books since I had both of them from years ago.

Then I found these little laminated cards at Professor Q Balls:
http://professorqball.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=37

They fit in the pocket of my case, so I don't have to bring a book with me.

I scored my very first point a few weeks ago, and I just love 3C, it's very exciting when you hear that "click".

My high run is two so far.:D

This is a great idea... I don't have my own table and I always feel a little embarrassed when I bring a huge pool book into the pool hall and start shooting the shots... Byrne should develop some of these from his 'Complete Book of Pool Shots'...

Now if someone could just figure out a way to bring a hidden video camera into a pool hall so I don't have to feel like a nit recording myself play...

Get yourself a Treo Smartphone.. I scan diagrams and view them while at the pool hall.. everyone just thinks i'm text messaging or something like that.. I also use it to record myself... good quality video.. nice size screen and quite stealthy. :D

I also enjoy 3 cushion. Didn't think I would like a game with no pockets.
Where I live there likely is a Billiards table (no pockets, 5' x 10') to play 3 Cushion on with a 100 miles, but still I am wanting to learn it. Also think it can help in playing 8 or 9 ball.

The walt harris books are pretty good - there are four of them, about $30 apiece
http://www.billiardsatlas.com/atlas.html
I'd skip the first one, the other three are invaluable. If you can scrape together $200 bucks or so, there are 2 great books from europe that you can get. 'Berekend Biljarten' by Jean Verworst, only available in Europe, but you can get it shipped here at premium. The Byrne books are the best thing going in this country but the Diamond system he gives in that book is a little unwieldy. The Verworst book is great, worth every penny, like having your eyes opened.

You also mentioned the Diamond System.

New Question:
