Can anybody post a pic of a Joss shaft at the joint? Dan sent me a pic of what the butt end of the joint looks like but I need to see what it screws into. He told me the shaft will be exactly like a normal Joss shaft but I don't know what that is.

I think what he actually meant was both will be piloted 5/16/14 joint meaning shaft will have inserts regardless whether its their phenolic or steel joint.

In my opinion, dont fret too hard about it but its common knowledge n safe to assume that the metal joint hits stiffer whereas their phenolic joint hits softer but with better feedback .
I tried both Joss before, steel hits stiffer and the phenolic hits softer but its has a lively hit with more cue back action n feedback.

So narrow it down to keep it simple,
do u want a stiffer hit but less feedback
or a softer but more lively hit and feedback ?

Thanks PT, for the pics. And thanks Cezar for the info. I suppose i'd rather have the softer hit with more feedback.

Either way, i'll be ordering the new Joss on Monday morning.

I just got a few shafts from Joss with the Phenolic (Material i think) threads on the shaft and it seems to be a tighter fit on the joint pin. which i like by the way but i do not notice a difference in hit. This is for the their high performance shaft and its the same for the shaft on the Thor break cue i got from them a few months ago.

Love your cue pictured!

I have yet to try the shafts with those inserts but they do look interesting. I wouldn't think they would play any different but I am guessing Dan Janes had a very good reason to build his high performance shafts that way.

I wonder if that type of insert makes or has a better bite into the shaft than the other ones would.
