Need recover and move in Indy

Hello,

Already checked the mechanics list, hoping someone on here might know someone else who might be able to do this.

I need a Valley moved from a garage into a house (same address) and recovered. Moved is the big part here. I can't help move the slate, I could have 1 other person here to help but it seems no one wants to move them.

Not expecting this to be a free gig, tried someone who advertises on craigslist and they wanted me to buy 2x4's, sheet wood, carpet padding, etc. AND my help. I've had several back surgeries, so lifting the slate by me can't be done.

If you know of someone who can help with this or if I missed someone on the list, please let me know.

Also tried the Cinn and Dayton people, they said they don't work on Bar Boxes.

how many steps do you have?
two people and a couple of furniture dollies is all you need.

place table on its side with a dollie under it
remove the legs and roll it in the house.....
but....
if there are a lot of steps this wont work
most people wont touch a bar box (i never did)

2 small steps.

The issue isn't the steps, it's that no one I have called will move one.

The way around the garage is through the yard so in theory it could be rolled on a dolley or slid with something softer underneath it.

Or carried by 4 stout teenagers. Maybe you can find a few just to move the table into the house.
Taking off the legs, rails and slate is simple. The box is just awkward.
Once in the house you'll probably get more takers for the recovering.
 
It's a 7ft cougar.

Two steps total, but that may not be the way to go as it leads into the kitchen (although it does have hard wood floors and could probably slide) Steps would be the tighest way to go, the yard and then up one step to the front porch and into the house seems like the easiest as it could slide in the grass and then have 10 ft to the porch and then one step up.

Call Diamond, ask for Brian. When you get Brian on the phone, ask him if Mike or Andy are passing by you anytime soon, if so, ask one of them to call you about moving and recovering your Valley if they have the time:grin:

Thanks to all who replied and PM'd. I think Jim and I will get it worked out.

I have one person who can help and as an alternate plan if for some reason the table can't turn the corner, we will put it in another room.

Your move is easy compared to moving a Valley to the second floor and around a right angle landing 4 steps up.
Needless to say the stair handrails and bannisters had to be removed and it took 4 of us to push/pull/lift the box up.
May have to stand it on end to navigate any turns but I'm pretty sure you will get it worked out.
 
Hmm. I'm here in Dayton. Just passed through Indy yesterday. Wish you would have called me. We move those all the time. I'm not saying they're easy, but we've never passed up on them.

Still young enough to mess with bar tables for now. Depending on steps 2 of us move 7fters and 4 of us move 8fters. Unless we are moving 2 8fters to the fourth floor of a downtown cincy rundown building that some guy was trying to turn into a bar. 2 of us and about 6 guys off the street that the customer provided with about 6 others asking to help. Will never forget that one.

Not everyone is as stubborn as us about proving we can do something solo. Most seem to use their heads more and backs less. And not everyone has their handy dandy RKC/Diamond cart to make the job easier.
After some of the moves, I can't say that I disagree with them.....lol
I actually brought two guys with me a couple of weeks ago to move a table from upstairs in Dallas, after finding out they misrepresented the table and location.
Put it on your calendar.lol

As for moving this one, it doesn't sound too difficult, and as Josh and Jim are both ready to tackle it, it sounds like your problems are solved.
I can't imagine someone worth the advertising space not accepting a 7' Valley move.
Sure they are a little more work than others, but at least it's not a 9' Global or a Diamond! :wink:
The lack of initiative and motivation still never ceases to amaze me in the hack world....
At least you don't have to resort to one of those now!
