I know this is a piece of ebony any idea on the species? I need to get a smaller piece for the butt end of a cue just dont know what to grab. I can provide more pics or specs if needed.
Thanks in advance!

Looks like macassur. Sometimes striped ebony can look similar but not like yours

Looks like macasser to me, but it could be asian ebony as well.
Odds are pretty slim of finding a piece that's a dead match, though. If it isn't a good match, it'll look like someone was pinching pennies to build the cue.
Buy a bigger piece for your current project and save this one for points/buttsleeve or a nice wrapless handle.

Well since I probably won't use this if anyone wants this let me know. I will look for a new piece but doubt I will have any luck.

It looks like Mun Ebony to me. That was one of my favorite striped Ebonies and it used to be cheap and easy to get. But it has gotten harder to find in recent years.

You won't have a hard time finding another piece that matches pretty close. Most mun ebony I have had looks exactly like that. Sometimes I get pieces that are darker, but usually it's just like that.

Thanks for the advice Eric. You wouldn't by chance have a piece u could sell me would you?

I have one piece that matches, but it's only on one side. The other side is sapwood. It's really not a good piece.

There's a supplier that sells it as Asian ebony where you can pick the specific piece you want. They have the best deal I have seen on that wood. The few other suppliers seem to think the stuff is gold. I used to be able to buy it for $8/ea for 18" squares but that source dried up.

Can you give me the name of the supplier via pm?
