Can anyone tell me who is pictured here with Fats? Getting ready to print and frame for one of my game room walls but want to know who else is in the pic. Thanks in advance.

I have seen him before, maybe an abc network guy. Not sure...
There are a couple guys in the mirror I am sure I do not know.

I think Driven is right. Possibly Roone Arlidge
I don't think so it does not look like him. Judging from Fats age and comparing it to other pictures of him that have copy-write dates. This was about 1963. Roone Arlidge would have only been maybe 32 or 33 at the time of this picture.

In the picture the background has folding chairs so this was maybe an exhibition he did somewhere. He did them all kinds of places, I saw him in a department store once. The guy in the picture could be anybody, maybe some store manager or something.

The guy in the first pic kinda looks like Detroit Tigers great, Al Kaline. If it is him, the pic would have to be latter than '63.

The dates would still not make sense. Al Kaline would have to been in his early 30's when the picture was taken. I just looked at a picture of fats taken in 1977 and he was already looking like an old man.

I would say that picture is for sure in the early 60's. Al Kaline even as an old man had more hair then the guy in the picture does.

The signature is also curious. Who signs their name and puts quotes around it? Also the signing would have to have been at a later date to get the picture developed, there were no one hours photos in those days.

Why was it not personalized? I have a feeling someone later added the autograph and it is fake, then they sold it.

That's odd..... From what I've gathered over the years is that fats was under educated and could not read or write.....
Who signed this!?

Rob.M

I've heard this too so I'd say Fats didn't sign it. It's been common practice for a long time for secretaries and other people who answered mail and telephones for celebrities to sign stuff for them. Doesn't look like the typical Fats silver inked stamp, but it might be.

The second photo I believe is in the book Hustler Days....the author RA Dyer would know for sure..http://www.poolhistory.com/books/hustler_days.html

If you have any back issues of billiard digest RA Dyer has his email after some of the articles, you could ask him directly.

I would look it up for you but I'm out of town with all my back issues and books back home.
