Just received a new break/jump cue in a trade. it has a phenolic tip/ferrule and i dislike this a lot. I want someone to face off the the phenolic ferrule wheres its rounded ever in a "tip" shape and install a White Diamond. Pretty simple job but my tip guy says he dont want to do it because he dont think it will stick. Any people confident enough to do this for me? Need a quote too please.

I say its a tip/ferrule combo, but it may be just a phenolic tip and a phenolic ferrule, as the tip area is the black colored phenolic and the ferrule is the brown. But i cant feel a joint between them.

the right glue

Tell your tip guy to rough both sides and put it on with 2 part epoxy, it takes longer to dry but the tip will never come off, everyone uses instant glue because it is fast. I always use epoxy when time is not a concern.

Have you thought about a Samsara J/B tip? I've tried a lot of combinations for my break cue including a White Diamond tip and for me I'm sold on the Samsara tip.

I like Samsara & Odega equally. My preference is to stay with leather and both of these work very well.

Someone I play with in a league had it done. Cut off the rounded part, sand it square to the shaft and glue it. As far as I know, he has had no problems with it staying on the cue.

I thought about a hard leather tip, but its a jump break. I know a hard leather tip would do the trick for breaking, but ive never tried jumping with a leather tip. I would imagine it wouldnt work as good as a composite tip. How's the samsara jump?

Totally agree. I will never be without a Samsara tip on my break cue ever again. Had one put on Saturday and I absolutely love it. Rock hard. Hits a ton. Holds chalk way better than phenolic and much more control.
