I might be buying a gold crown 1 next weekend. After its tore down, will it fit in a short bed truck? Or a big suburban? Any tips or tricks I should know? Anything I should look for to see if its worth what I'm paying? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

allen wrench for the pockets, 1/2 and 9/16 sockets and extensions, 3/4, 1/2 and 9/16 open end wrenches. Phillips screw bits and screw gun for the slate screws, Utility knife.
I am not sure if a 9 ft frame will ride in a short bed, it might if you tie it down good, and I do not think you can get the frame in a suburban. take a dolly and 2 big friends.

May sound trivial but mark everything. Put the various screws in envelopes and mark what they are. Once you get stripped down to the frame, on bolt the frame from the legs and keep it together. It should fit in the bed of the truck. The real problem is the slates, you don't want to damage them. With a small truck you may have to make more then one trip. Once you get the table where you want it you may want to get a mechanic to put it back together. You can probably do it with some knowledgeable help but if you don't know what you are doing you will be a problem. You have already saved yourself a lot moving it yourself. The finish work is important if you are to enjoy the table.
 
lay down some 3/8 inch plywood in the bed of the truck....that way you can get the slate in and slide it.

forget the suburban, you will destroy your back, and you will be driving with the liftgate up.

I do have a tool box that will cover everything you need. :D
 
How about a 10 foot utility trailer? That should work quite well shouldn't it? Its not enclosed, but the sides are about 2 feet high.
