Going to have to re-tip my Z² shaft soon. I understand that the standard tip (which I have right now) is made by Everest.

While not absolutely terrible, it does tend to glaze over quite quickly, requiring re-scuffing very often to preserve grip and feel. Also I think it's a bit hard. So, I'm in the market for a different tip (something soft).

I've heard too many bad things about Kamui to buy one of those (sorry if you're a Kamui fan). Browsing e-bay I've come across a couple of unknown (to me at least) brands that seem affordable and at least fairly appealing. I wonder if anyone here has used either:

FUJI BY LONGONI ITALY or Hirano High Quality 4 Layered Genuine Pigskin?

Also thinking about a Predator tip (although I've not yet had the chance to try one), so if you've used one of those please tell me about your experiences. Heard good things about Moori too, but never used one of those either.

I'm particularly eager to hear from other Z shaft users on this question, although of course I'll be pleased to hear your thoughts whatever cue you use.

Thanks in advance.

fuji tips are crap. hirano is much better. try ultraskin or black king medium tip.

sorry but all I thought when I saw your title was " peter piper picked a peck of pic............"

After using a Tiger Sniper on my ld shaft, I've noticed the same thing, the glazing and really having to work it over to get any grip. I also use Predator chalk and noticed it doesn't take well on the Kamui tips. As I do like the Kamui super soft, the chalk issue defeats the purpose of the chalk. While I haven't knowing used an Everest tip, I also haven't heard anything about them.

One thing that puts me off on putting a Kamui on my daily player is the pad thing that it suggested to buy to maintain the tip after installation. Why would I want to spend another $35 on a tip tool just for that tip? I do have a Kamui on my back up shaft and have used it, just not something I want to wear down and replace too soon. Also it seems the replacement or life of a Kamui SS isn't as long as other tips and without the tool for it, seems like it would shorten the life even more.

Once you find and try something, please provide feedback. My ld shaft needs a tip...

You don't really need the gator grip (if that's what you're referring to) to shape/maintain the Kamui tips. In my experience, any normal tip tool works just fine.

I shoot with a Z2. Have tried them all; currently have a predator soft on one of my Z2s and a kamui med black on the other. I'll take the kamui... the predator one isn't bad but I have found I like the med hit better than the soft; also have a kamui ss on one of my other shafts. I would like to try the predator med and probably will do that next but I am quite happy with Kamui.

There's been a lot of good press lately about the UltraSkins. I'm currently using an UltraSkin medium and like it a lot. :)

What are the bad things you've heard about Kamui?

Heard that doesn't hold chalk so well and gave a particular forum user more miscues than other brands ...but just tried to find that statement in the thread I made a while back about Z² shafts and couldn't find it there.

So, OK, lets just assume for the moment that the guy who said that was paid to make the post by a rival tip manufacturer, it now looks like a toss-up between the Kam med and the Pred med...

[EDIT: Started preparing this post earlier, then came back to the computer to click send ...but now I've seen others have posted and so I have more to think about...]

I've only had good experiences with the Kamui tips. I've had a couple of black mediums in the past and have just started using a black soft - which I really like, although I haven't had the chance to play that much with it yet.

I've not heard anything about the Predator tips yet.

milk duds clipped down a bit. Works for Efrin pretty well. I don't think I play to bad with mine either...

best,

Justin

Get one of these. The price is so good that if you don't like it you won't be out much.
But I think you will like it,I do.

My friend measureman, is correct. You can't go wrong with something that has the word ultra and skin in the name. :)

LOL Tramp. Seriously, this is a bit like asking what car is best for getting to the pool hall & back home. There's going to be a variety of answers.

PM me you address and I'll send you out one of the new Outsville tips that are going thru testing if you are willing to post a review..... Just need to know if your preference is for a soft, medium or hard....

Chris
