I have both Carolina Custom and Mezz. I like the Mezz better.
Couple of friends of mine have had Mezz. One had the Wx700 and the other the EXpro. When Mezz has like 6 or 7 different shaft options, it's a load of marketing b.s. Look at the construction of them. I shot with both of their cues but of course I've never owned one so my opinion is limited. They played fine. nothing special. The thing I noticed about them that seems to me why everyone thinks they are "so well made" is that they use about 300 coats of Urethane on their cues. That's about it. overpriced imo.

Have a couple Mezz cues and one of their shafts. Like the hit of one but the other seems very light in the handle, to the point the hit suffers, in my view. I think Mezz used a light handle and bolted too much weight in the back.

I've had plenty of nice cues (BB, SW, DPKs, etc...) and bought an ebony Mezz EC7 because I had heard such good things. I was blown away, very stiff and solid hitting with great ball control. I decided to buy an Exceed and was even more impressed. My Exceed with an ignite shaft is now my go to cue. It's tough to find an Exceed right now and their resale is so much easier than custom cues. There is definitely something to their hype and wish my custom cues played as well as the Exceed. I like the custom cues for their artistry and history but the Exceed for it's playability hands down. It's not marketing gimmicks.
All the shafts have different tapers and diameters.
Solid maple shaft ...LD Shafts of various deflection some with carbon core some without.
Pick the one you like best.
They are all slightly different. from a wx alpha shaft to a wx900 shaft is a huge difference. Play with what u prefer. I dont see where they claim anything that's terribly gimmicky.
They have their own joint pin. Can you really blame them?
If u buy a Mercedes do you expect to go to the parts store and buy dodge parts and expect them to fit.
They are protecting their brand.
wavy and united are both good joints.
Their cues hit and play as good as any.
They are constructed well.... i have yet to see a mezz fall apart like i have say a new mcdermott.
The fit and finish is miles ahead of what predator now puts out.
Its a familly company thats been making cues since the 60's
And they are priced very reasonable in todays market climate. . That's not a gimmick.
I'm not a fan of kamui at all and that's pretty much their stock tip. So if u don't like kamui that's the first thing to change. Put your tip of choice on and have at it.
I used the united joint on my Tasc for awhile, so it will fit the 5/16-14.

Thank you for the polite correction. I guess that's true if they are all different diameters and tapers etc. Variety. As far as fit and finish, all I see is way to many coats of urethane to make it look shiny. No better constructed that a Joss or Pechauer imo. Simply my opinion
Yes the mezz united shaft will fit most piloted 5/16x14 butts ....the other way around is hit and miss.
Joss and pechaur are constructed very well. Specially joss. But the fit and finish is not as good as mezz. I've seen joss cues with sawdust in the clear coat. Broken inlays. Poorly inlaid points (I hate the way joss does their points)....and the little notched diamonds they put in every other cue just look like absolute shit in person. I've only had hands on a couple pechaur cues....the feel and hit reminded me of viking...but they look totally different.. most manufacturers are putting out a good cue. A plain Jane mezz is the best thing going right now. It will last forever and still look good 50 years down the road(my guess) no problems
