Cork Wraps

I'm Gonna Have To Try One Of These Out.......

I owned and played with two cork wrapped cues in the last two years. I really liked them both, and will have another. Mine were on a Ginacue and a Josswest.

THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP WILL. I'VE CONSIDERED IT MANY TIMES, BUT I'M GONNA HAVE TO FIND A CUE TO PUT SOME CORK ON AND GIVE IT A SHOT.

HERE'S A QUESTION....... WHAT CUEMAKER DID THE FIRST CORK WRAP? AND I WONDER WHERE THAT IDEA WOULD HAVE COME FROM?

Hi Marcus,

If you haven't tried a cork wrap, you'll love it! The idea came from the handles on fishing poles and was found on lots of early Brunswick cues. If you're going to deal with hand moisture, it just makes sense. Cork resists water very well with very minimal absorbtion, so it's used in fishing floats as well as fishing pole handles, both in extremely wet environments.

Nowadays, most makers use neo-cork or some other rubber/cork composition, which is granulated cork bound together in solid rubber. The typical application for this material is in gasketing. The rubber gives the cork strength and a nice appearance, as well, and is a waterproof binder.

Happy New Year!

Steve

This particular wrap is the cork/neoprene blend. It does have a different feel than the genuine cork but it is also more durable. I stock both, $100 installed.
