Its a great rack no doubt. Built to last I'm sure. The first time I used one I was freakin amazed at how loud it was. I found myself wondering how the "pings" could be dampened.

I have watched a tourny or two online where these racks were featured. As mentioned, it really ramps up the volume in the room when many are in use.

As far as I'm concerned it the only draw back on this otherwise great product. Its just annoying to me, some others too it seems.

Now if they had a modification to take 2/3s of the weight out the racks would be just right.

I think the idea of the Delta-13 is great, but lets be honest. Coming from a business perspective, isn't it a better marketing strategy to correct the single biggest complaint of your product rather than telling the consumers to "buy this after-market product to fix it" or basically get over it? This is how products evolve. Pretty much every major company in the pool world has had to improve or modify their products over time (ie: low deflection shafts, tip tools, chalk and even gloves). Why should the Delta-13 rack be any different from those products?

Nobody is saying that the rack is not a great rack. But I have a suggestion. Instead of trying to defend what you have done with the design of the rack why not just say "after listening to our customers and wanting to be better we are now including the rack inserts to cut down on noise free with purchase." I would buy one because they rack GREAT, but I racked with them at a KF tour event and they were annoyingly loud. Especially with an entire room racking with them. What product has come out perfect the first time and didn't need any adjustment? Poolplayers asked for something and you provided it. However, the new technology brought something else into light that the players requested to be addressed. With the absence of emotion in text responses your response has an offensive tone to me; you may want to clarify it for others. I don't know if I would want to purchase a product that is sold with this type of response to a customer complaint.

But they've come up with a different conclusion, and that is that they believe they will make more money selling the inserts than modifying the product to include them. They may not be wrong since a good number of people here have responded that they like the noise. After reading the responses in this thread I wouldn't assume that EVERYONE is universally bothered by the noise.

Personally, as a consumer I myself am not inclined to pay $20 for 3 small strips of leather. I would simply jury-rig the thing myself. Would I buy another? Well, supposedly I won't have to, ever.

I'm not a fan of the noise but the manner in which I rack keeps it to a minimum. Since I want to keep the cloth on my table in as nice condition as possible, I place (rather than throw) the balls into the rack. Probably more importantly, in order to avoid wear and tear on the cloth, I put the rack into position at the foot spot first, and THEN place the balls and rack them. I do this to avoid the wear you see on pool hall tables from people dragging the rack full of balls from the foot rail to the spot. This method of racking also seems to minimize the noise factor.

It does do what I bought it to do - give me a tight rack with as little effort as possible.

I understand where you're coming from. I suppose since I'm a home user and rack in such as way as the noise is minimized, the noise factor is just not that big an issue to me. Certainly in a commercial setting it would be, but for a pool hall I would think that consideration is secondary to the cost factor, especially since I would think that Delta 13's in the typical pool hall would have the tendency to grow legs and disappear out the door.

Im with beave and dogs playing pool on this one. Instead of telling us all the things that are good about the rack how about adressing the one complaint people have.Making to much money selling the inserts I guess.

Take a page frome Royce at OB1 and adress the issue; people will love you for it. Alot of people didnt like the ob ferrule and the new ob comes with a white ferrule. See how easy it is.

and fwiw u can etch your name in a plastic rack; that dont mean im gonna run out and buy one. And you can get a good rack with the sardo but no one uses those either.



It looks like a good product I just cant stand the noise.

Many people made similar comments about slot machines when they first came out. Must be something to that sound! :shocked:

Thanks Ray. Leather inserts for $20 - found them. Interestingly, the website simply says that it will dramatically "change'" the sound, but doesn't specifically market it as a quieting modification.

If u want inserts buy the ones in the link Rick s posted The quality is top notch. John is very easy to buy from and has super fast shipping. Granted they cost more but you get what you pay for. There thicker than the delta inserts and look a he'll of a lot better IMO. The sound is almost like a good thick plastic rack close to a good solid wood rack
