NeverWet?

The question is, can it be sanded out ?
If its silicone based, it's a no no in the shop.
 
According to the review, it dries with a haze look, and can be peeled off depending on the surface.

There is the also the issue of finish adherence to it if it's used as a sealer, due to the silicon base.
Cuemakers should answer that. Perhaps the best "crash test" would be if someone tries it in a spare wood sample and comes back with the results.
 
I wouldn't want something like this anywhere near my shop, let alone my cues. The possibility for contaminating the surface of tools, hands, wood, or work surfaces is scary. You have to understand that the one absolute necessity when applying finish to an object, such as a cue, is that the object must be uniformly wetted for the finish to adhere and spread. Silicone products are forbidden in my shop.
 
Sorry but I have to say it.. lol… John are you thinking about using this product as well. Not only your cases provide a great protection plan to the cues. It can also be used as an umbrella as well.

I have no plans to use it but since I have machines that I would like to protect from rust I can see a use there. Also I am curious about how it feels on leather. One time I did leave a case standing in pouring rain at the us open to prove it protected the cues and that the leather would be OK so a product like this is interesting to me.
 
I posted my thoughts in the following thread (in this section) just last week- Rustoleum Neverwet

Pretty neat stuff. The nano-technology used is silicone-based, so I'd keep it far away from anything that needs finish.

It may work as a shaft-slicker and sealer, but apparently the current version leaves a haze. A clear version is in the works.
